Nice stay at Amerian Portal del Iguazú Hotel. Despite a little apprehension due to mixed reviews, it turned out to be a very good stay.
Yes, the hotel is a little dated, but the facilities & breakfast were great. Rooms were decently sized with strong air-con (very important in the hot & humid weather). Our room came with a balcony with a great view of the Iguazú River. Being situated near the Triple Fronteras, we could even see Brazil & Paraguay from the balcony, which was pretty special.
Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay and a solid base for visiting Iguazú.

It has gym, two swimming pools, one is heated. I didn't use them, cant say much about. Breakfast options are limited, fruits flies. Other then that all is fine. Bus,stops is right near hotel, taxi to airport cost about $22. You can take,a bus for iguazu park cost around $5,5 one way

Ticks the facility requirements to be a 5 star hotel I suppose. Nice pool that’s reasonably clean and there is spa facilities.
Our room was awful. The door required a new key everyday, even then it would require at least 3 attempts to open it. AC worked for 20/30 mins then stopped for the same length of time before starting again. Balcony door didn’t open properly, one strong pull and the whole door will come off so you need to open the door very carefully. The furnishings looked like they had been mauled by a jaguar and there were random marks all over the walls. The shampoo (that was attached to the wall) fell off and broke when we tried to use it. TV worked to an extent, showed local channels in a blurry format, the smart TV functions didn’t work at all because the WiFi sucks.
Upon checkout nobody asked “how was your stay”, i assume because the staff know the rooms are poor quality and are tired hearing the same complaints.
If you’re looking for a luxurious experience this is not the place to stay.
