Amérian Portal Del Iguazú Hotel

El desayuno era bueno y variado ( estuvimos solo dos días). La piscina exterior estupenda pero no la utilizamos porque estaba feo y frío. La pileta interna no estaba muy caliente, pero solicitamos que se calentara más y la zona del jacuzzi mejoró mucho.. Vistas espectaculares

The room was comfortable with a good bed and clean bathroom. The common areas were well maintained and the outdoor spaces were quite lovely. The breakfast was very good.

We booked our room on a site that quoted the price in our home currency and using the conversion rate that our bank used we calculated the price in Argentinian currency. At registration we were surprised how much higher the price was in the local currency. We were told that was due to the exchange rate which turned out to be much higher than what our bank and the international currency exchange vendors were quoting. The staff told us that they had to use the rate from the national bank which was much more favourable to the Argentina peso than any other currency exchange that we could find. Over evaluating the peso so that tourists have to pay more maybe part of the new government’s economic policy but it didn’t go over well with us. The wireless network was very slow and occasionally nonexistent. The staff was slow in responding and seemed bored and unenthusiastic about their work. The hotel’s location is quite isolated with few shops or restaurants in walking distance.

We travelled as a family and stayed for four nights. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and felt the hotel offered excellent value for money. The location and views are wonderful. The bathrooms appear to have been modernised and were very good. After moving to a lower floor the shower pressure was also much better. Breakfast was excellent with a very generous selection. There were many teas, coffee, juices, cold cuts, cereals, delicious scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon pieces, vegetables, cakes and biscuits, along with local breakfast options. The outdoor pool area was lovely with comfortable places to sit, a jacuzzi section and underwater loungers. There is also an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi which were excellent. The rooftop bar offers magnificent views of the sunset and the meeting point of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay

Some parts of the hotel feel a little dated, particularly around the pool area where the water line could benefit from a deeper clean. Spa treatments were inconsistent. Some were excellent while others were quite light and mediocre despite requesting a firmer massage. Even asking for the same treatment another member of the group had received did not result in the same experience, which seemed to depend on the therapist. The hotel sometimes felt slightly understaffed. There was no pool service and the rooftop bar seemed underutilised despite the fantastic views.
