Ilissos

Room was great. The location was a bit off as I made a choice of accommodation not having any idea about the lay of the land in Athens.

The shower could be modernised. Breakfast could have more variety and scope. Loved the dolmades - a very nice touch.

We were allowed a late checkout as our flight was late in the evening this was very much appreciated.

Rooms were a bit tied and there is nowhere for taxis to pull up

The hotel is very well located within walking distance to the Acropolis for people who don't mind a 20-minute walk, and also to the city center. In addition, there is a metro station within less than 10 minutes. On one side there is a busy road, but on the opposite side, where we had a room, there is a small street with a lyceum and residential buildings. The hotel itself is not the newest, but it is in very decent condition. The room and bathroom were clean, but the room furnishings showed that it had been used for some time, especially the carpet. In addition to air conditioning, there is a coffee machine with ready-made coffee and tea and a small refrigerator without a minibar. The approach and willingness of the staff were very pleasant. In the area around the metro station (Sygrou Fix) and adjacent streets there are many options for refreshments, taverns and other facilities, where mainly locals go. We had the best and cheapest meal (lamb) during our stay in one of the taverns. We recommend it for people who do not have too high expectations for accommodation, the hotel provides everything necessary for a short stay, especially for those who came here to get to know the cradle of civilization and that is a priority for them.

Breakfast was buffet style, but they offered the same thing every day, and the selection was not large. Fortunately, they had excellent Greek yogurt. In addition, we were disturbed by the banging of the front door and loud conversations in the hallways, even late at night, which may be due to the poor insulation of the doors, but it is mainly a problem of inconsiderate tourists.

The staff were really lovely and helpful. The view from the rooftop restaurant and bar was fantastic. The food was really good too.

It was a little far to walk to attractions. The room had no ventilation, and the air-con and fan appeared to be broken, so it felt like a sauna. It was so uncomfortable that I was thinking of booking a room in a different hotel late at night. It's a lovely hotel but maybe only for the winter months.
