The village of North Stoke: North Stoke is about 5 Miles outside Bath. It is on the Cotswold Way and really does have the most fantastic views, in fact being high up we can see both Bath and Bristol. Ideal for dog walkers and guests who enjoy exploring their surroundings. The Stables are situated on the side of a Roman Road and surrounded in history. It is now only used by walkers and the occasional farmer tending his sheep and new lambs which are visible from the property. There are 3 local pubs all in walking distance who all do good reasonable food. There is a church in the village dating back to the Saxon times

There are 2 local golf clubs a short drive away and a fishing lake 2 miles away.

Bath Race Course is within a 1 mile walk. Throughout Summer race nights are put on and the centre of the course is made available for families. Here you can picnic, barbecue and also place your bets on the racing.

Events: The Beaufort Polo Club is a 30 minute drive away. Here between 27th April to 17th September every weekend Polo is played. Situated amongst the tranquility and beauty of the Cotswold countryside, the speed and energy of the sport proves to be a vast contrast. Matches start usually at 3.00pm, so take a picnic, enjoy the surroundings and be enthralled by this fast moving exciting sport - and you never know who you may spot!

October - November is one of the best times to visit Westonburt Arboretum where the autumnal highlights are on show and experience the changing colours of Autumn first hand.

From the end of November and through December Westonburt Arboretum has an illuminated trail where you walk through the famous enchanted wood. The children can see Father Christmas and have lots of festive fun. Hear carols sung from local choirs and eat roast chestnuts with mulled wine. And throughout December any little ones can help Santa find his reindeer.

Events: 25th November - 12th December Baths Christmas Market is open. Held next door to the Bath Abbey and Roman Baths it has previously attracted over 200,000 people from all over Britain. Its a Christmas shopping event not to be missed.

Lisa and Mike were EXCEPTIONAL hosts. They communicated with us thoroughly, weren’t invasive to us, left us alone but were there at any beckoning call. The property and the neighborhood are GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS. I can’t get over the beauty of the area and the proximity to Bath and Bristol cannot be understated. Hearing the geese with their morning flybys and you can really feel the ghosts of history’s past, all around you. The sheep in the distance. Right down the hill from historic battlefields. We need some peace and serenity from the world have given us so far this year and the this property DELIVERED. I can’t wait to return every time we come back to this beautiful country.Thank you Lisa!

We stayed here for four nights with our two over 18 year old sons and our two dogs. Had a brilliant time ! My husband and sons loved the tennis court and we all loved the hot tub. Didn’t use the car at all. You can walk cross country to the nearest Tesco on the outskirts of bath ( around 4 miles). Lots of walks from the door. Barn is cosy and beautiful and very private . Hosts very friendly but respectful of your privacy.

Property very nice, location was lovely, with lovely views on the way into the villageNice size outdoor pool and a good size hot tub. Washing machine powder draw, quite mucky, were old stains and build up were still in the draw. Secondly the oven was a little off putting on the inside . Again just looked like it hadnt been cleaned properly before hand. The rest however was very plesant. Wasn't very impressed by the constant appearance of the owner, throughout our stay, it was near on everyday. Just walking through, for no real exceptavle reason. There was no emergencies, no urgent maintenance requirements and therefore as a family renting a property for 2 weeks to have a relaxing stress free holiday, having someone keep disturbing us, with no warning, apart from once when the lady asked to come and change the bedding, even though we had only been there 5 or 6 days at thst point. There was no feeling of privacy as you knew at some point he would just come walking through which is very disrespectful to paying guest, who have paid to rent that property. To the point one day my father was sun bathing in peace on the decking, i had just got out the shower, I go through to check my phone and there he is, on the decking area, cleaning the hotub, again or doing something unnecessary!. So although property and location is very nice. Paying good money for a private rental holiday to frequantly be disturbed is not.
