BYPILLOW The Citadel

The location is very good and communication with the staff was excellent. The room was clean and it was thoroughly cleaned every day. The AC functioned properly and the shower gel / shampoo bottles were filled in with quality products. The furniture and appliances are still new and very functional, despite their minimalism. There were plugs and night tables on each side of the bed. The floor is a decorative cement that keeps cool in the summer and is easy to clean. There was a refilled bottle of water with two glasses on the desk every morning after cleaning, which was very useful when coming back to the room from a hot day outside. The small fridge and the AC (set at a higher temperature) were quiet. The room also had a kettle, biscuits and tea bags but we did not try them. The WiFi worked well in the room and all the common areas. In the reception area there are three lockers (two small and one big) with code which may be very useful if one arrives in the morning as between 22:00 and 14:00 there is no one at the reception desk. In the small locker one can put two regular backpacks (the kind that is usually placed under the seat in the airplane). The big locker can accommodate a bigger suitcase such as those that are checked in when flying.

The bed (one mattress on two separate steel supports with wheels) was unstable and during the first night it was impossible to sleep as at every move the supports were squeaking. The second night I changed sides with my partner and it was better but the whole bed still felt quite unstable. The staff answered fast and offered a room change but we decided to stay as after changing sides it was better and we could rest. The sink in the bathroom is a bit on the small side and for some people might be difficult to wash their face properly there. Washing the face while taking a shower in the morning was a good alternative. There is no problem in washing the hands well in that sink though. The accommodation is on the 2nd floor and the building has an elevator but it can be reached after several stairs, which may be inconvenient for people with mobility difficulties. The building staircase looks a bit derelict, with uneven steps and occasional stuffy smells, but when the windows were open the smell was obviously less of a problem. All doors are painted a shocking blue on all floors, which may be a bit off putting for some people especially in a building and an area with some history behind, but the place is clean and safe, including for solo female travelers.

Muito bom o custo benefício, bem localizado, quarto maravilhoso, tem local pra deixar as malas depois do checkout se necessário. Banheiro MARAVILHOSO! Nossa e tudo muito cheiroso, não tem o que falar… cama delicinha!

Location is the best, very clean, great TV, comfortable beds. Safe rooms and neigbourhood.

The sofa bed for a third person to sleep is not comfortable, it is bent and the mattress is not straight. Soap dispenser broken.

Location was good. Need a long length mirror to check appearance with good light to do make up. Could be noisy late in evening due to bars below and nearby if that is a problem for you.
