Apartment Alegria Street by Sweet Porto - Free Parking

Spacious. For the needs of myself and guests. Very good location. Communication was better and clearer closer to the check in date and time. Updated and modern look and great Air Conditioning. Great storage for luggage. Sample of Porto wine on arrival along with water in fridge. Towels are soft and fresh. A map was left with places to visit that were circled and a post board with cards to restaurants and bars is on one wall for suggestions on where to go.

Check in was overwhelming. Need to pick up keys at one address.. park a few doors down and the garage is a tight fit when pulling in.. traffic is heavy during the day and made it a bit worrisome to accomplish… after all that the apartment is again across the street a short walk up. Washroom needs shelves or space to store necessities needed. Used one dining chair just outside the washroom door to leave toothbrush and hair and cosmetics. Not much privacy as windows are great for letting light in but are across from all the other surrounding apartments windows. Floors are extremely noisy in hallway in front of the washroom door and leading to kitchen which made night visits to get a drink or use the washroom loud for those sleeping upstairs. Front door knob was loose and bathroom faucet. Not a big deal but needs attention. Stairs to reach upper loft area are a challenge and hard to maneuver. I had an issue with my personal information being used by a third party phishing attempt prior to my stay which made the lead up to the stay very uncomfortable. I worked with booking and the host to resolve but took time and effort to alleviate this concern. Host did not offer discount or extras for that time spent figuring things out with calls and texts to all parties. I don’t know if the leak of information was from host or booking but it really stressed me out before my arrival and the mixed messages of where and how to communicate were distorted as they use what’s app closer to the date to give you information for checking in and booking.com has cautions to not use anything else but their in app or website to chat with host.. then said it’s ok? Very contradictory information on both parties.

Sweet Porto is a business with an expanding portfolio and good responsive management. Light, modern attractive large studio first floor apartment in old building - hence some noise from other apartments. It is situated in the popular Bolhao area near the market - a real experience to visit. Very well equipped. Excellent a/c. It had a lovely large “grassed” open space with dining decking area but unfortunately the street was very busy and noisy all the time. Useful information in the flat eg map with eating and other areas marked. Bit confusing to start - sent a key code for one number in the street to access the free parking (a real bonus) a few doors down, and the apartment was nearby in yet another third building! Satnav a real aid in locating all this in very busy traffic! Warning! The carpark has a narrow opening and has to be accessed at 90 degrees, which means your companion stopping the very busy traffic. There is then a steep narrow way down under the building to the open parking beyond. Exiting is also an adventure! It is a good location with a downward walk of approx 20/25 minute walk down to the river Douro by the Luis l bridge,,,and longer and longer walk back in the heat uphill! There isn’t a convenient bus or metro route between the two. We would definitely stay here again.

As above, the actual arrival,procedure was a bit tricky eg having to drive round the busy block to park in the street and then access the key code and garage. If cannot walk distances - especially in warmer weather, accessing some sites could be difficult without a taxi.

Everything was first class.

Location is perfect, close to attractions and very convenient with no.of restaurants & supermarket nearby 👍🏼

Parking is not with the same block and no lift to access to the floor, heavy luggages need to pick up & down👎🏼
