Vila Bela-Emília

I love everything about Vila Bela-Emilia! I can start by saying that the property is stunning, a true postcard. When we arrived Terto made us feel at home and while checking us in we were served some delicious caipirinha. The hotel is very unique with tasteful decor, and exceptional cleanliness, the location is perfect, steps away from the beach and a 5-minute walk to Rua das Pedras where you can find everything from beautiful restaurants, boutiques, and souvenir shops. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, a large bathroom and stunning views of Praia do Canto. The hotel offers a delicious breakfast, à la carte service with a variety of typical Brazilian cuisine, and at the front desk you can book wonderful day trips and other services. So I can wait to come back because Villa Bela-Emilia became my home away from home and their staff Pricilla, Terto, Pedro, Guilherme, Thiago, Claudia, Suani, Cauã, Fabiana, Rodrigo, Thiago 2 and Luciana became part of my family!

Breakfast was really nice and the location on the beach was the best. Some of the personnel was really too.

There’s a list : - « translation mistakes on booking » expected a balcony with a view of the beach, got a view of a wall - got stuck outside at night for more than 15mn. Key system sucks. - alcohol free drinks instead of alcoholic drinks ?! - bad smell in the bathroom from sewer back up - very polluted beach and water

Perfect location, 5 min walk from Rua das Pedras and straight at the beach. Cosy decoration of the Pousada. Comfortable beds

Totally overrated pousada. In booking.com we booked a „Deluxe Suite“ that turned out to be a „half below soil“ located simple room (the pousada calls it „Solar“). In booking the pics are placed like it has a Terrasse with chair, in reality your room window is at floor level, all people walking to the beach pass by. Even having mirrored windows it feels uncomfortable to stay inside with everybody looking inside. Also opening the window invites all type of bugs to come in (we found some examples when we came to our next hotel in Rio). The bath room is completely outdated and falling into pieces, opening the tap pumps water in waves with an weird noise. The breakfast was ok, but often items were missing and not replaced anymore once consumed. On two mornings no Pao de Queijo was available and upon asking, the answer was „it takes 40 min to make it“. on the first day I ordered fried eggs which never came, but staff keeps telling how they want to make your stay special. Deck chairs on the terrace (only 3 for all guests) are like from the 70‘s, and very uncomfortable. The management offered us to cancel our reservation, but in high season there is no other place to go on a short hand. Also they send us a bottle of bubbles, as this could change the status quo. It should be mentioned in the hotel description that it is primarily a FAMILY place, so kids all around and for a romantic couple like us not the right place. So this stay was not to our satisfaction and we think that the rating in booking does not reflect the reality.

The staff was absolutely amazing, very attentive and helpful! - Marvellous location, and great breakfasts!

Wifi coverage could be better, and it was difficult to adjust water temperature in the shower.

Breakfast provided an excellent variety fo fruits, cakes, yogurts, breads, granola, cereals, etc. You could also order eggs in a variety of styles which were made fresh at no extra cost. The pousada is right on the beach and 4 blocks away from the center of town. They have a two person kayak and a stand up paddle available for free to guests.

The air conditioning (wall unit) should be replaced by a split unit to lessen the noise level.
