Hotel Ideal

It was Ok. people helpful.

No elevator. stairs a bit high.

The location is close to the University premises, less than 2km walking distance, and can be reached comfortably by bus both from the central station, the inner city, and the University/ UKSH area. Access to the hotel was sent by text-message, which enables arrival at any time.

The web-site mentions optional breakfast, but it did not seem to be available (there was no breakfast room). There are several bakeries close-by with good and affordable breakfast, so this was not a problem.

Let’s start with saying this hotel is not perfect by any means, but for my needs it was perfect. Location: 25 minutes away from Travemünde ferry terminal. Very quiet neighborhood. Loved the host. Very polite and nice gentleman. He did not speak any English, but i knew a few German words and we found a way to communicate. Room was very clean. All the towels and toilettries were there. I did not eat breakfast there since Altstadt was 7 minutes away by car.

Here are would be negatives if i didn’t just need a place to sleep, but needed something better: To get to a room you have to use stairs. No a/c. Beds weren’t comfortable, but not bad either. Most wall outlets are hidden, you have to move some light furniture, like bedside tables. You only get one key, keycard supplies electricity to the unit and wifi. If one person leaves the room, the person that stays inside gets no lights and no electricity. You have to call the German number to get in. Takes a bit of googling and trying to actually call if you’re foreigner. The number is listed without +49 and includes 0 in the front that you have to drop. The host doesn’t speak English. Wasn’t bad for me since i haven’t forgotten 100% of German i’ve pearned in High School, but for people who have forgotten - get Google Translate.

The beds are really comfortable and a bathroom is really nice and clean.

There was a bad smell in the room like it havent been aired out for a while.
