The breakfast is great. The staff are lovely and the hotel is very clean. Great location.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Wittenbergplatz station, served by both the U-Bahn and buses, is just a short walk away, making it very convenient for getting around Berlin. KaDeWe, one of Berlin’s most famous department stores, is right across the street, and there are many restaurants nearby, so it is also very convenient for shopping and dining. The room was spacious, with a high ceiling, which gave it a pleasant feeling of openness. The building itself is old, but that is also part of its charm. As the name of the hotel suggests, it retains a classic European atmosphere, which I personally enjoyed. I would also like to mention that the gentleman at the reception was extremely kind and helpful.

There are, however, a few points to keep in mind. The reception and guest rooms are located upstairs, and there is no elevator or escalator. Therefore, carrying heavy luggage up and down the stairs can be difficult. Also, probably because the building is old, the floor in the room seemed to be slightly slanted. The amenities, such as shampoo and shower gel, were rather basic. In addition, there is a park right in front of the hotel, where people sometimes gather, so it can be noisy at night.

Good location (proximity to public transport). Helpful staff, perfectly friendly. Breakfast usual German fair - bread rolls, cheese, cold meats, yoghurts. They did let us store our luggage on our check out day which was very helpful.

I would say this place was sort of between a Travelodge and Premier Inn in terms of quality. They do not change your towels every day (fine) and say they do it on the third day - this did not happen in our room - and there is no cleaning during your stay. The quality of the towels was very poor - I don't mind using a towel for 5 days but mine was the quality of a bad tea towel. For the price (admittedly low) I would still expect a little more. Unfortunately, despite it being a good location, there is a lot of noise right outside from 6:30am pretty much every day. There is a local market 3 times a week which begins set up at this time. As there is no AC, you have to have the windows open so get woken up every day by this noise. The fan in our room only worked on 1 setting.
