Bohinj Lake Hotel

Great hotel by beautiful Lake Bohinj

My fourth visit to this hotel. Good breakfast as always, brilliant location and helpful and welcoming staff. Rooms are clean, the balconies are great and I love coming to stay here.

It can get a bit hot in the rooms in the summer heat, air conditioning would be an additional bonus. I also would like tea/coffee facilities in the room as these are currently missing.

Great location, dangerously hot shower water

You’re staying here for the location, and it is truly unbeatable.

The shower scalded me during my stay, I was quite worried I had been seriously burned. There didn’t seem to be any safety limit of the temperature of the hot water, and when I accidentally bumped the mixer all the way to hot, scalding water immediately poured out on my back. Real safety issue given the elderly people who stay there! Reported it to a young concierge at the time, but uncertain if anything was investigated or done.

The breakfast proved to be delicious, wide range of different food, excellent bakery products. We took the buffet dinner as well (all drinks included into the fix price - beer and wine as well), which was also tasty. The room was better than expected, having separate bathroom and toilet and door between the corridor and the sleeping room. The bed was very comfortable. Our balcony opened to the main street, having side view on the lake. The windows closed out the noise perfectly, ensuring calm nights. The location of the hotel is right in the center.

Only the strength of the wi-fi could have been better.

Basic, but overpriced

The staff is their biggest asset. Friendly, kind, and helpful. The location is amazing, overlooking the lake, and it is easy to get there by bus. Good starting point for different hikes. The dubble rooms are spacious, clean, and have an amazing view. I also stayed in a single room, the difference is huge. Food: You have a good choice in the morning and at dinner. You can hire a kayak or sup across the street. There is a supermarket around the corner and different restaurants in the neighbourhood.

The hotel is very expensive in high season for what you get. It's a bit dated and badly isolated. When people talked, I could almost follow their conversation through the walls. The food is okay but basic. Because it's a hotel, the fried eggs are overcooked and dry, the rice is mooshy, the ice cream is nice, but the glass where you clean the serving spoon should be changed more often. It looks gross. The location is excellent and very touristy but that is their biggest problem. There is a lot of traffic, people, and noise. Everybody is looking for the best spot around the lake, and nobody respects your personal space. I had found a nice spot in the shadow. Leaving space for people to enter the water and on the other side not quite enough space to lie down. Think again! I got sandwiched between a group of friends who didn't want to look further. L'enfer c'est les autres. If you are looking for a quiet place, don't come here. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the lake, a lot to do and don't mind a lot of traffic, then this is the place to be.

We were very happy with our accomodation, highly recommended!

Our room was disabled-friendly (that came as a surprise), but it was great. The room was next to the elevator, but luckily we didn't hear any noise. The windows had a very nice noise cancelling, too. We were very happy with our accomodation, highly recommended!

Great location, good breakfast. comfortable place.

Great location right overlooking the lake. We were originally allocated a standard family room with a balcony but when we got inside we found it was very small, smelled quote badly of cigarette smoke and was on the ground floor so no view from the terrace as the hedge was too high to see over. We asked if we could be moved to a higher room and they very kindly let us and we ended up in a bigger room with a large balcony and a great view! We had a great few days here. It was comfortable, breakfast was nice, great location. Fridge in the room was very useful and the bath was lovely. The table tennis table was also really great.

They definitely need to update the decor as its very dated and they make you pay for everything extra such as towels for the pool, even for a little bit of milk for a cup of tea in the room. Gym could have better equipment. I would definitely recommend but only if you specify what kind of room you would like as its expensive otherwise.

The most beautiful hotel location with lake views

Location on lake Bohinj. Stunning view from balcony. The kindest most helpful staff. They even let us check in early on a very hot day which was a wonderful help! Swimming pool was glorious after a hot trek too.

Poor quality breakfast. All other hotels we stayed in during trip around Slovenia had incredible quality buffet breakfast so this one disappointed us quite a lot.

Location is the best thing about this hotel, apart from that everting else is not worth the price of admission.

Breakfast selection was varied. Staff at front were extremely friendly and set a great first introduction. Rooms were decent sized. The food prepared by the chef was brilliant. Second mention for receptionist ladies, you’re brilliant.

The rooms are lacking in any additional touches, you’re provided the same body scrub/shampoo/hand soap in both the shower and sink. There’s no tea or coffee facilities within the room. We found the rooms extremely hot with no air conditioning or method to cool the rooms down beyond opening the door/window. Lack of in room instructions for the safe would be a nice touch. The lack of a dedicated toaster was disappointing at breakfast time. Dinner service could do with some soft music to perhaps set the mood a bit better. We found ourselves whispering to not disturb others. The cost was also very off putting. Whilst we can appreciate its Easter time, for the price paid, we expected better.

Loved everything about the hotel but the view from the balcony was divine. What a way to end each day . The buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful.

Great location, paying for pool towels was disappointing as the hotel was not the cheapest.

No aircon in rooms, needed to pay for a towel to use the pool was disappointing. The paid towels were tiny. They suggested using your bath towel....but then would need to dry with wet towel after showering.

A lovely hotel in a paradise location

The hotel exceeded our expectations! The rooms were spacious, with a nice big balcony. The location is absolutely amazing right next to the lake. There is a busy road but we were on the top floor so it didn't bother us, and it was quiet when we closed the door and window. The temperature inside the room was fine too, we had stayed in other hotels that were very hot without Aircon but had no such problem with our rooms. We enjoyed the coffee at the restaurant outside, and the dinner and breakfast was tasty with lots of options. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

I loved the people and the location. Everyone was very accommodating! I was a solo traveler so I found them to be especially friendly and helpful.

It needs updating: air conditioning, more modern menu with vegan options, character could use some updating as well.

Location is wonderful. It is close to everything. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Great breakfast.

For this price, I expect something more modern. Although they advertise they have wi-fi, that is misleading. Wi-fi reception comes and goes, and when it exists is it very weak at best. This was the standard 20 years ago, things have changed. No AC or even a fan in the room. It was 31 degrees and the room was very hot. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner, they have only shower gel. Although the hotel is on the lake, my window had a view to a concrete wall. All in all, for me, not worth the high cost

Great location, lovely staff but slightly tired rooms.

Brilliant location, lovely staff, and decent food. Loved the pool and table tennis too.

We were unlucky with the weather probably but the lack of air conditioning in our room was a big problem the first night (and we weren’t even on the top floor). The staff were great and got us a fan the second night but the rooms do not get much breeze at the best of times so the hotel might want to consider investing in more fans! The rooms are a weird mixture of old furnishings with newish bathrooms and a mini bar with nothing in it.
