A clean, comfortable room

The bathroom, it was very nice to take a relaxing bubblebath in the evening. The hotel is also decorated in a way that feels like a slightly historic / luxurious hotel from the past (in a good way).

The TV only allows cable; it would have been nice to be able to cast/stream from your phone.

Great hotel in a very nice place. Impeccable staff and services.

Very professional and friendly staff, ready to accommodate special requests and help in case (as it was the case) an unexpected situation (my son got sick during our stay). Outstanding breakfast.

Just being picky, there may be room for improvement on the darkening of the room during the night (a/c, TV stand-by light and window curtain)

Nice for a weekend away.

Beautiful pool and spa area. Very fresh and modern. A big plus that kids are welcome to use the pool. Main restaurant was very pleasant to sit in. Rooms in old part of building really nice even if it’s a bit odd to have a window from bathroom to bedroom.

Food was good but not great. Put a lot on effort in nice plating but tastes a bit bland.

Excellent stay and great value

We enjoyed the entire experience, the hotel offers great value for the price. It was beautifully decorated and created a lovely Christmas atmosphere. The breakfast was decent, and the interior felt fresh and pleasant. The spa area has a modern style, with a swimming pool, two saunas, and one hammam. The parking area is large and free of charge. The hotel also has a beautiful mini park behind the building. We loved how well the hotel treats dogs, we received complimentary dog treats, and our room had access to a terrace, which is very convenient when traveling with a dog. This hotel is a great place if you want to explore Aachen or nearby cities, even much better than a different 5 star hotel in Aachen itself

Nothing significant that would affect our overall impression A small remark, the leather bed frame has a nice appearance, but it can generate some noise, I would have recommend to upgrade it in the future

Nice surprise in Vaals

Great place, Relaxed, dog friendly (but not saturated with furry companions), excellent service, surprisingly unpretentious, and very comfortable beds. I have some preconceived opinons aout vdV hotels, and this one proved me wrong :-)

Nothing not to like. If anything, room decor was a bit too early 2000s, but it really didn't bother me

Great place to spend some time

Cool place to visit for a long weekend. Nice garden, stylish interior & exterior of the main building. Breakfasts deserve mentioning. Relaxing spa. Terrace overlooking the garden is a nice place to spend some time during morning sunshine.

loved everything at this hotel, the room was clean and comfortable, the facilities (swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, etc.) were amazing, really like the breakfast too, everything was nearly perfect.

the lift was broken when we arrived (my mother is a wheelchair user), it was not very convenient. however, the staff was very helpful.

Loved the treatos for my fur baby as well as the ground floor location of the room. Really close to main attractions and lots of restaurants shops within walking distance. Loved the feel of being in an old, grand castle

The 2 single beds with separate mattress toppers … kept sliding off the bed which wasn’t always comfortable.

Exceptional

We chose the hotel because it’s convenient to visit Aachen from the Netherland, and continue to Belgium cities. It is idyllic in Spring time, with flowers blossom in the garden and birds chirping. Our luxury king room offered two great beds in different rooms with elegant furnishings. The spa tub in bathroom looks nice although we didn’t use it.

Breakfast a little expensive (€20 for each adult and €10 for child), but was of good quality. In other hotels we stayed the small child is waived of breakfast charge because how much they can consume? (only a piece of bread with jam spread)

It is an ok choice for small stay.

The hotel looks like a palace. It is very nice and fancy on the interior and exterior. The room was comfortable and very clean. The heating was working fine and the tea/coffee facilities provided were very good. Parking was available and the receptionist was very friendly. We didn't have breakfast but we saw the breakfast room and it should have been good.

We selected the comfort room and not the castle room as they seemed similar in the pictures and the comfort room had a terrace. However, the comfort room was located in the semi-basement and from the terrace you were just seeing the ground. If we knew, we would have selected the castle room, so booking has to add a specification in the room type. The room had two side bathroom doors (more like a room feature) but they did not close well and you had no privacy when in wc. The had placed an extra bed for my son (we did not request it and did not use it either) and it was very low and small, so if it is an older child it might have problem sleeping there.

extremely BAD experience that I wish I never had!!

The property smells so bad and the furniture is so dirty and dusty. it is located in a scary place where you feel like you’re in horror movie. we were so terrified and scared all the time, the doors are not closed properly so the windows and we were hearing the winds all night. it was a terrible horrible experience that I wish I never had!! what a miserable place to live in!! FOLKS STAW AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway - pretty & quiet!

Lovely place to stay at! Nice, large bathrooms, quiet location, good service, nice bathrooms, plenty of parking spots, and much more. Breakfast really good, I would highly recommend you to include that in your stay. The grounds were also really nice but unfortunately one part of it was closed and we were not able to walk around there. The hotel bar is pretty cool, and they have some very nice cocktails.

The mattresses were moving around in the bed, as they are not attached to anything - although the bed itself is pretty comfortable. The bathrooms could get a bit smelly quickly if you keep the door closed. This has nothing to do with the property but there are really no decent options for dinner around (walking distance at least).

acceptable stay in a businessman-like castel hotel that falls short in real quality

The main building had the shape of a castle and was placed in the green setting of a park. Decent size room with a small terrace. Good breakfast. We enjoined a pleasant dinner in the restaurant. Coffee and tea making facilities.

In particular unpleasant to us was that there was a strong smell of smoke in the room when we entered the room, which did not go away in the 10 hours we inhabited the room. Light in the bath room was under sensor control and was only partly shielded off from the rest of the room; it took at least 10 minutes before the light switched off automatically; in particular annoying during the night. Noise from the toilet and shower from the room upstairs could be heard in the room.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel has a great atmosphere at a picturesque location. Perfect for a weekend getaway. The room was nicely decorated, clean and quiet during the whole day. Good variety of choices for breakfast. Recommending to reserve a table in the restaurant well in advance for dinner. Free parking available.

Nice hotel, but a waiteress almost dampened our spirit

Wonderful castle turned hotel, very beautiful with lovely gardens. You will feel the historic nature of the hotel and its grounds, wonderful place. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and cozy, very beautiful place. The breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves.

Except visit the “dreilandereck” there is nothing much to do, you might be bored to death. Secondly, a waiteress (I couldn´t get her name) refused to serve us dinner insisting the kitchen was closed (this was about 9.30pm) and advised us to get nuts, chips, or chocolate bar(s) from the bar for dinner. I could have let it slide but I caught her looking condescendingly at my friend (who´s black) and I just went to the reception. I informed the reception that we want some food and I know the dinner is till 10pm. They (receptionist) spoke with each other, put a call through to the restaurant and told us to go back to the restaurant. At the restaurant, the manager (a smart, good-looking young man) offered us the main course and was kind enough to offer an explanation. A lot happened in-between, but this is just a summary. I would advise the hotel to arrange courses on racial profiling for their workers, this might be beneficial to that waiteress.

How can I begin? First, I came to relax, chill and be away from my Amsterdamse stress. That's EXACTLY what I found! Exceptional leisure experience, extraordinary nice and professional personnel. I'll come back for sure and I, already, recommended the place to a large number of friends. Thank you!
