Hotel Bloemendal, near Aachen

Hotel Bloemendal is stunning, inside and out! The staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. The restaurant and bar have wonderful decor, great service and excellent quality food for dinner and breakfast. The rooms are clean, spacious and well designed. Tea, coffee facilities and a mini fridge were appreciated. We had a walk around the beautiful grounds that are really well curated. We also used the pool facilities which were well equipped and relaxing. We loved our stay, and we wish we could have stayed longer.

We found the beds a little uncomfortable; too soft and sagged at the sides, plus the mattress topper kept shifting. The bathroom layout had great space for the shower but left a smaller, awkward space for the toilet. Otherwise we were really please with everything!

Charming historic building and gardens with an informal and relaxing atmosphere. I fully enjoyed the wellness facilities. Pls note that a bathing suit is required in the sauna. We booked a dog-friendly room (#105) and the small terrace was a bonus. My dog loved the bag with complementary treats! The Geuldal region has a lot to offer e.g. Mergelland route, hiking around Epen, Vijlen, Heijenrath, Wahlwiller and nice restaurants like St. Gerardushoeve, Hijgend Hert, Buitenlust.

Housekeeping is very, very basic. Floor not swept, grit in the bathroom corners, spider behind the curtains etc.. After 2 days, I stopped tipping the maid🫠

Great architecture. Great breakfast.

Multiple phone calls at 11.00 asking Bev to vacate the room. I was in the lift on the way down.

The location is wonderful, walking around the grounds feels like a holiday in itself. The bed was huge and comfortable. I loved having access to the pool. Breakfast was delicious.

I can’t think of anything worth mentioning
