Le clos des Acanthes

This is a lovely, spacious and well furnished accommodation, set in a beautiful private garden shared with the owner of the property. We happened to be visiting during an extreme heat wave with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, which made it challenging to keep our unit comfortable in the absence of A/C. Luckily we had years of experience surviving the torrid summers in Japan so we managed the only way we knew how--by keeping doors/windows wide open at night, and closing windows, shades and curtains during the day. It was almost too hot even to go outdoors in the day, but we did visit some Vouvray wineries, several of which are within walking distance (with their chilly caves) for tastings, a boat ride on the Cher, a visit to Tours, etc. There are a huge variety of sightseeing possibilities in the area, depending on one's energy level. We enjoyed many of our meals in the garden outside our apartment, although it was challenging to wait for the shadier hours to do so. This place would be paradise during milder weather! Nonetheless, in a way the challenge of dealing with the weather made our stay all the more memorable! The property's owner is charming, helpful and friendly.

Notre hôte était très sympathique, à notre écoute avec de délicates attentions, confitures eau fraiche à l'arrivée. Elle nous a donné des renseignements précieux sur la région pour nos visites. La région est très belle, châteaux, vin de Vouvray et paysages. Le gîte est très bien équipé, décoré avec beaucoup de place, le jardin est magnifique. Nous avons passé 7 jours très agréables.

The garden was enchanting and so we the place where my husband and I stayed. The place is clean and bright. The location was great to all the chateaux we wnated to visit. The parking was always available. We wish we could stay longer. The owner Veronique was helpful and most friendly.
