Apartment Picasso

The location is excellent — just a minute off the main thoroughfare, while still being tucked away from any significant noise. The apartment is spacious enough for a family of four and the kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need during your stay. Decent hairdryer too, i needn't have brought my own! We particularly enjoyed the lovely mountain views, as well as the view of the church steeple, which added to the charm of the location. The letting company were also very helpful and responsive, replying quickly to any messages and queries we had throughout our stay.

The garden was disappointing. We chose this apartment specifically because the garden was enclosed, as we have two young children and were looking forward to them being able to play outside safely. Unfortunately, around half of the garden was not maintained and was heavily covered in weeds. We had read reviews prior to booking mentioning that work had been completed on the garden, so we were expecting it to be in better condition. The other half of the garden was fine with AstroTurf, outdoor furniture and a sun parasol. There were also works taking place outside the apartment during our stay. This caused a few minor issues, including our children falling over some blocks that had been placed along the entrance path. The shower could also be improved. It is positioned over the bath, but the shower head does not extend far enough into the bath, meaning you have to stand awkwardly towards the back of the bath while showering. A longer shower arm would make it much more comfortable to use. Overall, the apartment had some good features, but the garden and ongoing external works were disappointing, particularly as having a suitable outdoor space for our children was one of the main reasons we chose this property. The property was very comfortable and the host was extremely responsive. Their typical key hand off is to stop at their office, but we did not have a car. They made accommodation to meet us at the door upon arrival - very easy! The apartment is not luxury, but I wasn't paying for luxury. It had everything we needed. The kitchen was a small area, but it was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The shelving, cabinets in the bedrooms was plentiful. Best of all was the location - we looked out the back at the Aguille du Midi every day with a church tower in the foreground (recommend visiting inside - gorgeous!). We were 1 long block from the SuperU for fresh fruits and breads every day - big bonus! You can walk everywhere in Chamonix - location is fantastic!

A couple of minor thoughts/suggestions: more bowls! The construction out front was a little treacherous... stumbled on the "paper" a few times in ski boots. TV is a little outdated, but it was sufficient. Not a lot of TV watching, but the day after Vallee Blanche was the exception!

Visited 30th March for a week. The apartment is well laid out and spacious with comfy sofas and would be very comfortable for four people. It's surprisingly quiet too for a city-centre location. The garden has fantastic views of both Mont blanc and Brevent and gets the sun all day with the South/Westerly aspect. The kitchen has all you need with plenty of utensils, an oven, hob, both filter and cafetière coffee making facilities and a kettle and toaster and a generously sized fridge and a dishwasher. The bathroom has a bath which is very welcome to soak your legs after a days' skiing with plenty of hot water. there's a washing machine too which is welcome so you don't have to pack a full weeks clothing. The location is fantastic with a short walk to the bus-stops for all the ski areas as well as the nightlife.

The mattress is very firm which was fine for me, but not for my partner who had very poor sleep. The garden could be improved and there was a gap at one end which lessened our privacy- could be easily screened off... The bathroom has been awkwardly designed with the wash-basin at the wrong height - very high and would be very difficult for short people or children to use. The bath/shower mixer tap is at the wrong end making it awkward to use whilst having a bath- but we didn't let these things spoil our stay. It looks like the entrance to the building is going through some building work and is very unsightly as well as dangerous- pretty unacceptable really, but hopefully this is just a temporary thing.
