The Retreat

We had an enjoyable week's stay at the Retreat. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. The lodge was clean, the sofas and beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped. It was in a brilliant location for exploring North Devon and the top of Cornwall - Bude, Hartland, Clovelly, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! are all within easy reach by car. We loved the quiet location, it made for a relaxing stay.

We knew there would be a heatwave during our stay, so we brought our fans from home just in case - I'm really glad we did as the lodge got incredibly hot! I appreciate not much can be done about that, but it might be worth considering having fans on hand for guests to use during summer. One other thing was that the ramp up to the front door got really slippery after it rained - my partner fell and hurt his back as we were leaving. I'd consider putting some anti-slip material on the ramp to avoid this happening to anyone else.

It.had all you needed unfortunately we had a lot of rain but we were warm and dry

It was a little tired and the TV was not smart. Our visit would have been much better if we'd had the internet

Lovely location. Property very comfortable, with two bathrooms. Bonus!

Some of the equipment needs updating eg the fridge. I fixed the TV aerial myself! Would have been nice to have small welcome pack, washing up liquid, bin bag, cleaners etc. Just the personal finishing touches are missing.

The Retreat was in a lovely location and very warm and had everything we needed and more.

It does need a bit of updating. Things were falling off the wall in the showers and the shower base in the en-suite hadn’t been cleaned.
