Great Ashley Farm Holiday Cottage & Shepherds Huts

the weather could have been better, but we can't change that

The standard of decor was excellent. The space was limited but very well planned out. Lovely tree lined route to the hut. Well shaded patio area. Lots of windows helped to keep the hut well ventilated in the hot weather. Comfy bed.

It was a very hot day when we arrived and the hut was all closed up with the towel rail on full blast. I think the windows might have been opened up before our arrival and not sure why the towel rail needed to be on? We did open up windows and doors to cool things down but faced two further issues. The smell from the cattle in the nearby field wasn’t very pleasant and then there appeared to be 3 very friendly cats who then kept entering the hut, jumping onto furniture etc and forcing us in the end to close the doors. We assume past visitors have fed them? Whilst the parking space within the tree lined drive was very shaded, our car got covered in bird poop all over the windscreens and doors. Given the location we accepted that this was unavoidable. We used open windows for ventilation but would maybe just question if the bathroom extraction fan was working? Lastly we had thought that wi do access was provided within the property when in fact it isn’t. Possibly our mistake given details on the property are all mixed together between the two huts and a separate cottage. Think it would be better to separate out these out for clarity.

The huts are set in a private farm with beautiful surroundings, and very friendly cats. The hut is well heated, and has all of the mod-cons you would need. It has a private outside space for sunny-lazy days, which is perfect for this kind of stay.

There was no Wifi and poor 5G connection, I assume due to the remote location. I was happy to be disconnected, but my partner was a little disappointed, I think mostly because it was listed in the amenities on the booking.com website.

Could do with small shelves in bathroom. The breakfast was terrible not worth the price and selection was not generic enough
