The room was comfortable and the hosts were friendly.

The hotel was not open until 3 pm. I misunderstood the check in as limited but the whole place was closed. No matter, I went to the nearest open pub for lunch.

Lovely friendly family run establishment

A lovely family run guesthouse, all rooms are named after the owners grandchildren, very clean and comfortable rooms, nothing seemed too much trouble. Complimentary continental breakfast was a great bonus and enough choice to get us started for the day. There's a lovely little seating area outside. There's a fridge in the dining room for guests to use and a microwave for use if you purchase microwave meals, or you can phone out to the local takeaways and eat in the dining room, folder of menus is available. We used this as a base whilst visiting family, would definitely come back

There was no decaf coffee in the room but we asked if any was available and was handed a jar to use for the duration of our stay.

A very enjoyable stay

A very enjoyable stay at the Harp Freehouse and Guest House. It is always such a pleasure to be welcomed personally on arrival. I had a wonderful stay in perfect accommodation, the whole experience amplified by the friendly nature of the hosts, guests and regulars in the bar. I will certainly return and recommend to all

Not a bad little place to stay

The room was clean and comfortable if somewhat basic. The staff were very friendly and you're given a key to the side door so you don't need to walk through the public bar to get to your room. Breakfast is provided although I never went into the dining room as I don't do breakfast so can't comment on it. I stayed for 2 weeks and was pretty happy with it. I found the bed super comfy.

The water pressure in the shower isn't great and the wifi is terrible. Being a pub you can hear noise from the bar but I wear earplugs to bed anyway so I wasn't too bothered. Something to bear in mind though.

Lovely pub frequented by locals, decent accommodation for the price, friendly landlord and landlady.

This was my second stay here, and I love it. Tony and Teresa run a lovely pub, and the accommodation isn't luxurious but it still meets every need. One thing though - you would need to be familiar with Ipswich to stay here as you either need to walk (20 minutes) or drive (5-10 minutes) to the town centre. I have tried to add photos to my review but this site took forever to upload them and in the end I gave up. Sorry!

My stay was comfortable and convenient, easily worth the cost.

The location is a perfect fit for me, the facilities are well cared for and the premises are clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. I have stayed here on a few occasions and found it comfortable and convenient, and the parking is largely reliable even if the car park is a little small.

I have stayed here a few times and found the wifi connection in some rooms a little unreliable. The water pressure in the shower can be a little bit low and on one occasion, I unfortunately ran out of the provided toilet paper as the rolls were low upon arrival.

Excellent value for money, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.

The staff were very friendly whenever I saw them. They were happy for people to eat takeaway food in the dining room although I didn't take advantage of that offer. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was available to help yourself to, and there was a decent choice for a continental style breakfast.

The water pressure in the shower could be better, it took a long time to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. The WiFi kept dropping out in the bedroom, but was fine downstairs.

A place apart

This was a great Guesthouse. Teresa and Tony were most welcoming on our arrival. Our room was immaculately spotless and very comfortable. We just loved the atmosphere of the place. The bar was cosy with a great drinks selection.

I was a guest for a week and can only report good things. The staff are very nice and helpful with all questions about the guesthouse or things to do in and outside of Ipswich. My room was clean and met my expectations and needs. I would choose the inn again if I were to come to Ipswich. Thank you for a carefree time.

The most fabulous guest house experience… to be sure!!

The great feeling of welcome when we walked through the door. It was the same welcome feeling we felt the whole stay. Nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic guest house experience. Clean, comfortable and peaceful.

Two minor things… no hairdryer or bar fridge. Add them and it would be perfection plus!

The breakfast was nice, they do a roast dinner on Sundays that was really lovely. Staff were lovely, really friendly. Location was good, really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book again.

A good place to be

The people were nice and helpful. We had a confortable stay. The pints at the bar were quite good.

The staff guy with the black 🐶 fur growled at us upon arrival. Later on we got along fine...🤣
