This place is a gem!!! It is not 5 star hotel and has no pool or gym, but everything else is perfect! The room (apartment) is spacious and spotless clean, and the bathroom is big with washing machine. The air condition is great and the bed is so comfortable. They make breakfast just for you at the time you specified! The staff were super nice (Mr Su the manager will do anything for you and he can speak some English, the other helper is also so lovely and helpful)! There is no lift in the building but they helped me to carry my bags up and down. The place is 10-15mins walk to the metro (for 2 different lines) and it is in the French concessions so you can walk to Anfu and Wukang Road. I stayed in this place for 7 nights and I had dinner at the Italian restaurant downstairs like 5 times as the food was wonderful (it is very popular restaurant)! I highly recommend this place if you don’t mind the lack of facilities.
The building is 150m down a lane from the main road (Changle Road) and you have to get off the taxi and walk down the lane as car can’t go in the narrow lane. So it will be helpful to ask the hotel to send you photo of the lane as the hotel or restaurant name is not signed posted on the main road. Search for Bella Napoli (Changle Road branch - as they have 2) on the map or didi.

The hotel is in a great location in the French Concession, near lots of good places to get food (not including the exceptions Italian restaurant downstairs). Breakfast was tasty and varied. It included coffee, fresh fruit and then an item (such as mozzarella and fresh tomatoes) that changed day to day and was always wonderful. The staff really make the place special though, and especially as a solo female traveller they were amazing at making me feel comfortable and welcomed.

The property was located right in the heart of the French concession and convenient to everywhere. It was like a mini apartment where my partner myself and our teenage daughter could really spread out. Mr Xu and the team looked after us so wonderfully. The hotel has a lot of character so if you don’t want cookie cutter experience, you definitely need to stay at Kevin‘s old house.
