This hotel was an oasis during my two-night stay in Shanghai's hot, humid summer. The building is located in the heart of the old city, next to Yu Garden, with the Bund just a few steps away along the waterfront and Nanjing Road within easy walking distance. The room was comparable to a mid-range Marriott hotel and offered a beautiful view of the skyscrapers across the river. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were spotless, the shower was excellent, and the air conditioning cooled the room quickly. Thanks to the central location, I was able to return to the hotel several times during the day to take a refreshing shower or drop off souvenirs I had purchased. The staff were exceptionally helpful. When I arrived, one of the young gentlemen showed me how to adjust the air conditioning to reduce the humidity and keep the room comfortable. The next day, I needed to prepare and send some documents. Another staff member, Mr. Lin, helped me make copies, called a delivery service, and arranged everything within 15 minutes at the reception desk. The documents were delivered to another city 500 miles away the next day for only 24 RMB (US$3.50). I was completely amazed by the speed, efficiency, and convenience. The hotel occupies part of a mixed-use building, which gives you the feeling of living among the locals, a feature I really enjoyed. On the lower floors is a wholesale market where you can buy souvenirs at very reasonable prices, while the upper floors contain residential apartments and several hotels, with Moxy being the nicest of them. There are countless dining options in every direction, ranging from authentic local cuisine to familiar international fast-food chains and cafés. Best of all, the entire neighborhood felt very safe, even when I was walking alone after midnight. Overall, this hotel offers an unbeatable combination of location, comfort, value, and outstanding service. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

The location is absolutely perfect, especially for first-time visitors to Shanghai. You’ve got tons of scenic spots, restaurants, cafes and subway stations right at your doorstep, so you won’t waste any precious travel time getting around. We showed up an hour before check-in, and the host was super kind to let us store our luggage for free. Downstairs there’s a wholesale market with a huge selection of travel souvenirs. Loads of popular attractions are just a short walk away. We visited the nearby City God Temple — with its stunning traditional Chinese architecture — along with Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the POP MART Global Flagship Store. The night view around here is absolutely breathtaking.
