With the hands-on and exceptional service by every single staff member I came across, it’s no wonder Chaa Creek has won so many awards. I have never stayed somewhere where they will literally make any guest request happen. You can tell the staff love working there, and their attention to detail makes you feel like a mini-celebrity for the stay.
Its proximity being fairly far outside of town and no Ubers or taxis readily available makes it so that the main way you have to get around is hire Chaa Creek’s private shuttles each time you want to go into town to eat, shop, or check out the nightlife which can quickly add up on your check-out charges. With Chaa turning the lights off and calling it a night pretty early, like many other places in the area, a late night pickup requires an upcharge and special arrangements to be made. We went during the off-season which was nice to not have a ton of crowds or other tourists around, but the way this property is designed it makes it almost too quiet. Some people may like the exclusive and private feeling, but if you like to drink or mingle with other travelers when you’re on vacation, Chaa may not be what you’re looking for (at least during this time of the year). When I was there we were the only group of single friends, all the other guests we came across were either couples quietly romancing or families using the many activity amenities Chaa has on site.

The staff were wonderful and the grounds were stunning. Our room was also beautiful. We loved the on-site activities including the stables, butterfly sanctuary and canoes.
We thought we booked for two adults and two children at the time of booking but when I spotted on my confirmation that it was just for one adult and one child, the lodge required me to go through booking.com to modify it which required a phone call since the website couldn’t modify my reservation. Somewhat annoying for such a small change and then I was surprised to learn our room only included breakfast for two people rather than all four when we arrived to the lodge, even after going through the trouble of modifying our reservation in advance.

It was in a beautiful location that is very far away from everything. We were here at the first of January. The weather temperature was very pleasant. It did really rain one day. The food as delicious, but pricey. Great walking trails. Great bird watching. The staff is very attentive.

Overall, it was a great place to stay and experience Belize. Communication with the lodge in advance of the trip was spectacular and they were very accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and the property well-maintained and beautiful.
The fact that the doors to the rooms only lock from the inside was very disconcerting as any guest could enter any room on the property when vacant. The food at the restaurant was very expensive and not of great quality.
