A warm, comfortable, and well-hosted stay that offered great value for money.

I had a pleasant stay here in mid-September 2025. The host was exceptionally kind and always accessible — cheerful, helpful, and welcoming throughout my stay. He allowed me to check in a bit earlier and even arranged a taxi for my return to the airport, which I truly appreciated. About the property: It is conveniently accessible by bus or taxi, just a few minutes’ walk from the nearest bus stop. Although my room didn’t have a sea view, the beach was only a short walk away. The host paid attention to small but thoughtful details — such as providing beach towels and a plastic basin for washing clothes. There is also a lovely rooftop common area, perfect for relaxing. About the room: It was well equipped with a refrigerator, air conditioning, and cupboards. The bathroom in my single room was a bit small and average, which would be the only minor downside. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and excellent value for money.

Great value for money

The owner was very polite and helpful, location was also great, being about 5 minutes on foot from the beach and with direct city bus transport to the airport and city center. Our room had pretty much everything we needed, but we were mostly eating out.

Facilities were a little dated (especially the AC was a little too loud), but that's to be expected at this price and there were some stains on the walls from the previous visitors

Absolutely great! Yanis is the best!

Very friendly host Yanis! Good apartment, nice bed. Everything was great. Towles for the beach are for free available and a great terras at the topfloor with beds seats etc. Great restaurants around the corner and very nice beach. I really liked the extras (that was a nice surprise) and ofcourse the hospitality! Efcharistó Yanis!

WARNING! THIS IS A SCAM! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!

WHAT I LIKED: The owner tried to scam me, so unfortunately I can't say I enjoyed my stay at the hotel La Santre Villa. But the hotel is definitely not far from the beach, about a 10-minute walk. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE - MY CONTINUATION: Unfortunately, because of this, I had to wake up no later than 9:30 AM every day because the cleaning lady couldn't wait, and by 10:00 AM she was sitting on the stairs outside my room, waiting for me to leave. While she was waintin, she was smacking her lips ironically as she told me she had to wait! It's simply outrageous! So, please, think twice before you decide to stay in this hotel!

The owner tried to scam me. On the last evening of my stay at the hotel, around 11:30 p.m., I received an email from Booking.com informing me that the hotel had canceled my stay because I hadn't arrived. And I had just fallen asleep in my room at this hotel! The consequence of not checking in was a fine,in my case €177. Of course, I paid the owner for my stay with my credit card immediately upon arrival. If the owner had managed to scam me, I would have had to pay the €177 extra on top of the regular room rate. Since canceling your reservation prevents you from writing a review, it's very likely that this has happened to other guests as well. But canceling a reservation "silences" guests. The next morning, before leaving, I recorded videos from the hotel as evidence, including my conversation with the owner, in which he explained that the cancellation was his daughter's mistake. He promised to clarify the situation with Booking.com. Over the next two days, the status of my reservation remained unchanged (still canceled), so I emailed the owner twice, asking for clarification from Booking.com. The owner replied he was already investigating, then that the problem was resolved, but nothing changed. 3 days after my departure, the hotel tried to charge €177 from my credit card. Fortunately, my bank blocked the card, and the hotel didn't manage to steal my money. I also contacted Booking.com, and they asked me to send them proof of payment for my stay. Fortunately, I was able to use my bank receipt because (very strange!) the ATM receipt I left on the table in my room during my stay disappeared after the hotel cleaner cleaned the room! I want to dedicate a separate paragraph to the hotel cleaner, who was very arrogant towards me. At 9:00 AM (but since I live in Central Europe, my time is 8:00 AM! But if you live in the UK, it's 7:00 AM!

The hosts' reception was warm and they were kindly eager to provide for every demand, the hotel was small, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, creating a homely atmosphere. The beach is very close, the necessary supplementary equipment offered by the establishment, there are shops, restaurants and bars around and there is a regular bus correspondance for the city center, as well as taxis. The supplementary surprise was the roof arranged as cozy living-room, from where one could enjoy the quiet summer night under the starry sky and with a beautiful view.

Lovely hotel and amazing service

I had a great experience at La Santre Villa. The room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The host went out of his way to greet me and ensure I had a comfortable stay. The location is ideal, just around the corner from shops, restaurants, the beach, and even a public pool. I'd highly recommend this place for solo travelers or couples. I would definitely stay here again.

The owner was extremely nice, very friendly. It is next to the main road, but at the same time quiet and pleasant neighborhood. Very close to the beaches, many restaurants and shops. Easy access to the public transport. Perfect for a budget vacation.

The shower needs a renovation as it’s pretty old and the canalization needs a clean up and the absence of a coffee machine.

I really enjoyed my stay here

Mister Giannis is such a wonderful host! He tried his best to make me feel welcomed. He was really open and eager to help. The location of the villa is great - it's close to Heraklion, and on 8 minutes walk to the closest beach bar. The rooms are cleaned every morning, and the towels are changed regularly.

The hygiene could be better in the bathroom.

the owner Yannis and his wife was exceptional as I have problems with my legs and Yannis helped me with the few stairs and with the big bottles of water also the young girl who looked after the apartment was great. I liked the patio as I was on the ground floor. The Wi-Fi occasionally dropped out but was not a problem as Yannis woul restart it

great place as a base for excursions

The owner of the place is very nice and will be there if you have any needs, like iron or corkscrew. The property itself is actually a hotel, so you will get a hotel service, i.e. everyday somebody will change your bedsheets and towels, wash your dishes. The self cocking option is rather rudimentary. There is a kettle and an electric stove, but of rather limited capability. Enough to heat up something, but enough to actually cock.

The owner is pure gold. The facility is clean, thoroughly cleaned every day. Good communication with the center, 7 minutes to the beach, 3 minutes to the "Bravo" water park. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Comfortable beds, quiet air conditioning, nothing for the money better. My rating was 9.5 .

Clean, quiet and comfortable hotel with very hospitable and friendly host Ioannis. really liked it! :) there is also a stable Internet and so on — everything you might need. Amoudara is a great place to relax and enjoy the sea, the beach is not crowded, there are areas where is no one within 100 meters of you, thats super cool! just be careful, there are sea urchins in the water, not much but enough. So, try to look down for sometimes.

Great hospitality, great value and great location

The owners are very friendly and very kind, they welcomed us when we arrived. They gave us useful pieces of information about Crete and helped us with everything that we needed. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and a nice balcony. The best thing is you can go to the rooftop terrace which is huge with a lot of sunbeds and chairs and with beautiful scenery on the sea. The internet connection is very good. There are a lot of shops, supermarkets, rental companies, restaurants. If you want to use public transport, you can easily find bus stop and go to the center. It is a highly recommended place if you want to stay in Crete.
