Our stay at Carnmore Hotel Takapuna was exceptional

Loved the attentive and personable services from all staff (from reception to room cleaning services). The location is within walking distance of everything that we need. The direct and short distance to the beach is a huge plus. The room is spacious, and the ability to get outside breeze and sunlight was refreshing. The style of the building is very attractive. My spouse and I will recommend this hotel to everyone. We totally enjoyed our stay and even extended it for 3 more days! On site laundry service is also a plus!

Not clean.

We liked location and good size rooms.

The bathroom and kitchen was dirty. Toilet smelled of urine and not clean. Kitchen cupboard had crumbs in cupboard. Floor was not vacuumed.

A bit of noise from linked adjoining room through linked door. Could improve sound insulation between these rooms.

Weekend Takapuna

Very comfortable large room on the ground floor. Air conditioning kept the room cool. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom with huge shower. Chocolate brownie on arrival was just an extra touch of luxury. Not too far to Takapuna or the beach.

This was my second stay. I especially liked being a short walk from Takapuna Beach.

I liked being close to the center of Takapuna and to several bus lines. The hotel is a 10-minute walk to the main drag, Hurstmere Road, which has plenty of shops and restaurants. Takapuna Beach is also close by, and it’s edged by restaurants. I found it easy to get around without a car.

There wasn’t anything I disliked.

Very convenient and comfortable accommodation

The location was what drew us there, it was wonderful and so handy to the beach and all the shops and restaurants in Takapuna and also the bus to Devonport. It was great having a lift to get our luggage up to the room.

The shower design was a bit strange, no curtain or door so it was very hard to have a shower without getting the floor wet. The shower itself worked well, great water pressure. We also found the bathroom one way window a bit off-putting as we weren't sure how much people could see in when the light was on in the bathroom. We closed the blind just to be on the safe side.

Comfortable, quiet. Great location. Short walk to beautiful beach and to cafés. Staff helpful and friendly

Ground floor oom was dark. Next visit I'd ask for a room on an upper floor. Shower over spa bath not so accessible and no shower curtain meant water on floor unavoidable.. bathroom ventilation wasn't adequate.

Great rooms, but not for light sleepers

Clean, spacious and comfortable - everything you can expect from a great hotel - but only if you are not a light sleeper

The constant slamming of doors and people coming and going late at night made it difficult to sleep on both nights. It’s a real shame, as everything else about the stay was absolutely perfect. I understand the doors are designed to close firmly, but perhaps adding signs to remind guests about quiet hours, or mentioning it during check-in, could encourage more consideration between midnight and 4 a.m.

Location is great for access north and to the city via the ferry. Bathroom was amazing for a little family. Generous in space and clean!! Plenty of parking too.

No lift could be seen to levels. There may have been one elsewhere but not via our entry.

Troubling intrusions of privacy. Very disappointing response from the company.

Room was clean.

Whilst we were getting ready in the morning, two separate male members of staff entered the room without warning. (The second one knocked opened the door immediately.) I had no clothes on (on the first occasion); my wife had just entered the shower - otherwise she would have been visible too. We raised this with the management. We were offered two chocolate brownies as recompense! When I raised this by email with the company their reply offered us a 25% discount on our NEXT stay - entirely useless as we will NEVER be going to a Carnmore hotel again based on this experience.

This is by far one of the best places in Auckland to stay! Highly recommend!!

Everything about this place is amazing. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, easy parking, easy walk to the beach and near the on ramp to the motorway so you're only a stones throw from being in either the CBD or Northern beaches. Staff are also super friendly. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again!

great location, super friendly staff and had everything we needed or could have asked for

the brownie on arrival was amazing, however there was 3 of us and only 1 brownie, this caused a fight, but I won lol. Staff were super helpful and accommodating, leaving the laundry open late so we could wash uniforms after our sports tournament and allowing us a late check out was really helpful.

king size beds would be a great addition and usb plugs in rooms for charging points would be fantastic

Rooms are spotless, beds very comfortable.

It is a noisy place. The rooms on the ground floor hear a lot of noise from people coming and going, the upper level rooms are much quieter. But the road is noisy. Part of the price of being 5 mins from the harbour bridge. I take my ear plugs.

Lovely location and room, would stay again

The size of the room was great, nice new tiled shower. We had a ground floor room which had access via a ranch slider outside. This was handy for moving luggage between the car and room as the access otherwise was through internal doors of a building. Bed was comfy and the room had everything we needed. The staff were very helpful to our needs. Great location for a walk to the beach.

You could hear the TV of the room beside us when we went to bed. Thankfully this didn't go on for too long and turned off at a reasonable hour.
