Congress & Wellness Hotel Olsanka

We arrived early to the hotel around 11.00 am. As there was no ramp to the hotel entrance, the cab driver took us around the corner into another street to let us off. This remained the issue for all subsequent cab journeys. The male staff was hesitant in greeting us but we asked him about our booking and without checking he said you are too early to check in so he handed us a card which stated baggage and pointed to where it was and said you can store your bags there and come back later. We did this and gave him the card back and asked him when we could return. He said after 2pm. We left and came back at around 4pm and retrieved the luggage. He then checked for our booking and asked for our passports. We had booked 2 rooms because there were 3 of us. He said the booking is for 4 people! I told him and showed him Agoda’s confirmation. He sighed and carried on giving us the key fobs. Then he pointed to where the lift was and did not even send anyone to show us to our rooms. We carried on and my room (326) had twin beds although we asked for a large double! The bathroom had a shower without any closure. The towels were left on our beds. The shower did not have any space to put our toiletries. The toilet was separate, but everything was clean. There was a large cupboard with hangers and a safe that worked. We needed to find out about the telephone and the shower door, but the phone wasn’t working. We went down to report it, and they sent 2 technicians who looked at the shower door and said that there was nothing wrong with it, that it was complete. The phone wasn’t connected which they resolved. Furthermore, there was no mini fridge for cold drinks at all. Then we tried to turn on the air-conditioning, but the temperature was stuck at 19 degrees centigrade which made our room very cold. We had breakfast included so when we went in the hall in the morning the staff were not helpful at all and they frowned when we asked questions if something had meat in it and the selection of products was very poor for a “4 Star” hotel. I do not know who assessed this hotel as 4 stars, but I feel that it probably should be 2 stars at best. Even the sofas in the lounge were dated and needed refreshing. the SPA was closed for reasons that they were not prepared to give. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel in Prague. The location was convenient, with easy access to public transportation and many attractions nearby. The room was clean and quiet, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable. The breakfast was tasty with a good selection of food. The hotel is quite large, and while some of the furniture is a little old-fashioned. It offered good value for money.

I wish the reception staff smiled and were not so aggressive then this place would get a 5 stars from me
