Relaxing Black Forest hotel in nice green location

The quiet location in the middle of nature, the comfy beds, the sofa and the space of the room, the pet friendly attitude, the spa with its pools and the restaurant options make this hotel very attractive.

We would have enjoyed a kettle for making a coffee or a tea in the junior suite.

Nice place to place to stay in a beautiful, calm environment

Beautiful location surrounded by nature, with the ability to go for a walk in the forest as soon ad you walk out the front door. Really nice room (suite) with everything one might need during their stay. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice, dinner in the evening was also really tasty! The sauna facilities were nice and clean, and in wintertime open till 10pm.

Breakfast was nice, but in a 4* hotel, the least you could expect would be fresh juices. The fakes ones that were there were not tasty at all. In addition, the lady who works there for breakfast, really it’s friendly. It seems as if she would rather be somewhere else, which brought a negative vibe. The outdoor pool was closed the entire time, although it was supposed to be open. The indoor pool was open, but the water was too cold unfortunately. Please note the sauna facilities are naked, which we didn’t know in advance. Finally diner was great, but on Friday it is a buffet formula which is heavily overpriced (€48 per person, drinks excluded). The next day we ordered starter, main and dessert à la carte + cocktails (which we didn’t have on Friday) and that was less expensive than the buffet formula. Doesn’t make any sense… Please note that at the reception staff speaks English, but other staff is mainly German speaking and not really friendly if - after trying in German - you have to continue in English.

Over hyped

Location is good in middle of woods if you like total privacy. Decent breakfast.

Rooms are pretty small and bathroom was like smallest i have seen. Indoor pool is really small, its not for swimming at all. Outdoor pool was not heated, its just impossible to be in pool in chilly days. There is no side attractions like water jet streams or jacuzi. View from seating area is also not great so doesn't make sense to sit there. Little bit information would help like regarding what to expect from hotel, Spa, Breakfast and Restaurants for example there was Omlete counter at breakfast but its in Kitchen and we never asked for it because we didnt know. In my view it not worth for given price.

Exceptional

Lovely place with helpful and respectful staff. Environment, in general, is very tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. Everything is focused on maximum relaxation of the guests. Establishment is surrounded by beautiful, wild nature. Wifi available in all areas. Food in the restaurant was excellent as well. Most importantly - hotel is fully pet friendly.

Wonderful

This hotel is a peaceful oasis. Breakfast is supreme and the staff is very lovely! The SPA has 4 different sauna and 1 Turkish bath, very very well designed and so beautiful. The woods around are wonderful and with well marked trails. The restaurant is beautiful, romantic, cozy and the food is sublime. I prefer firmer and larger pillows. however I appreciated that the hotel also provides 2 small firm pillows to use instead of the very soft feather ones that are on the bed.

I thought the pools would be warmer, I found them a little cold, but that's a very personal consideration (they are very very nice and medium in size). The icing on the cake would be to have a larger hydromassage area, but it is a splendid place.

Superb

Top notch restaurant! Both the breakfast buffet - with more choice than one would wish for! - and à la carte dining were of a quality exceeding the 4-star status of the hotel. Very friendly, well-trained and accommodating staff, both at reception and in the restaurant/bar.

Not an issue, but just a suggestion... A slightly more expansive wine/drinks list (I missed desert wines to name just one...) and some of the Alpirsbach specialties (like their Dunkel and Zwickel) in the beer department would be an even better complement to the excellent food menus...

Very nice

Large room, albeit in the front of the hotel. The road is not busy at night. Ask for the newer rooms, possibly with more room in the bathroom. Nice and clean though. Enough storage for clothing. Restaurant and terras could be updated. Food good. Breakfast good Very nice large outdoor swimming pool. In the midday frequent group lessons in the inner pool

A wonderful environment to escape the pressures of everyday life-tranquility, peace and great walks.

Food: Breakfasts were excellent, fresh and appetising. The dinner a la carte menu was excellent in presentation and flavours however it would have been good to have say an option of a "light" evening buffet menu as an option as the a la carte servings were rather too large for our evening palate !! The afternoon option of a light buffet and snacks at the poolside was a great idea and of high quality partially resolving the comment above on having an evening buffet. Facilities: The wellness centre, pool and gym area were all of top quality and immaculately clean. The massage and treatments were top class and professionally executed.

As an overall observation, perhaps the serving staff at the breakfasts and dinner could have been slightly less formal and more relaxed (smiling/friendly) although they were always totally efficient.

Fantastic relaxing getaway!

The restaurant is fantastic! The breakfast has a lot to choose from also. The customer service was terrific. I can highly recommend Christian for the massage. Lots of great trails for hiking right outside the hotel for all levels of experience.

Not all the spa facilities were open, just the main sauna and the pools. Some construction looks like they are adding on to the spa area, which has me wanting to return when that is finished!

Super wir kommen wieder

Super Anlage und du Ruhe die Wanderwege alle vom Hotel aus.

Schlechte bis keine ÖV Verbindung, dafür kann das Hotel nichts, ohne Auto wird es schwierig. Wenn man was kaufen will fährt man erstmal, bessere Aufklärung, wir haben erst am letzten Tag erfahren das das Ausenpool genutzt hätte werden können

Sehr schön und gut erholt, wir kommen wieder

Sehr freundliches, immer erreichbares, aber nie aufdringliches Personal. Es gab zwar Bauarbeiten, aber diese waren so leise, dass wir es erst merkten, als ein Fenster über den Parkplatz getragen wurde. Essen war sehr gut. Wir haben uns prima erholt. Wegen dem Wetter, waren wir nicht im Wald, sondern haben Fitnessraum, Schwimmbad und Sauna gerne benutzt. Alles sehr sauber und gut gepflegt.

Tolles und charmantes Wellness-Hotel mitten im Wald mit grosszügigem Buffet

Ruhig gelegen, sehr schöner Wellness-Bereich (vorallem das Haus der Stille!), sehr grosszügiges Frühstück und Snacks am Nachmittag, schön cosy eingerichtet und allgemein sehr schön zum Entspannen. Zimmer waren sauber, genug grosser Schrank, etc. Alles in allem ein sehr schönes Erlebnis.

Wir kamen spät abends (20:00 Uhr) an und wollten etwas kleines essen im hauseigenen Restaurant. Die Dame an der Rezeption war nicht sehr zuvorkommend beim Check-in und hat uns mitgeteilt, dass es an diesem Freitagabend nur eine Küchenparty mit 5 Gängen gibt. Auch auf Nachfrage ob es in der grossen Restaurantküche nur etwas kleines zu essen gibt (z.B. Sandwich oder Aufschnitte mit Brot), hat die Dame nur nein gesagt und nach keiner Lösung für Ihre ankommenden Hotelgäste gesucht. Wir fanden das sehr schade, da wir sehr umgängliche Menschen sind und nicht ein 5-Gänge-Menü essen wollten. Wir gingen dann um 21 Uhr extern etwas essen holen. Bei allen anderen Mitarbeitenden stand bei unserem Aufenthalt der Kundenservice sehr im Vordergrund, schade nicht auch bei dieser Dame.
