A Superb hotel with exceptional management and staff

The hotel is an excellent example of what hotels should be. The reception staff were excellent, most helpful (Emilly was brilliant). The food was superb. A special meton to James duty manager who was excellent and outstanding representing the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for this superb hotel

Lovely hotel with excellent staff

Lovely location and surroundings. The staff are fantastic - welcoming, cheerful, professional. Our room was comfy, clean and warm. The restaurant serves excellent quality food and the small bar is well stocked, including a variety of locally-produced drinks.

The breakfast options were limited not for vegans, but we did not go hungry, and the evening meals were delicious.

Loved the setting, property looks amazing, food was lovely and so important to us it is dog friendly, rooms spacious and clean

We only stayed for one night to be able to attend a family funeral, but everything was excellent.

I requested a room with a view of the countryside and this was provided. The breakfast was delicious in a lovely, bright breakfast room.

The 'Welsh breakfast' did not have its traditional Welsh 'laverbread' as an additional option but only 'black pudding' which is not always to everyone's taste. It would be nice if Welsh 'laverbread' was included for breakfast in future.

The menu could’ve done with some simple and more filling dishes (we had to order room service after dinner and I wouldn’t consider us a big eaters). But the food was a good standard.

Perfect for where I needed to be for my job and I will use again without doubt.

I really like hotels like this, so refreshing after spending time in modern box type hotel rooms where you can't even open a window. Building has history, it creaks a bit in places but that just makes the place even mor interesting.Hard work getting soap out of dispen

It was hard work getting the soap out of the dispensers whilst showering.. caused the use of shower to be longer than required.

Lovely food, good location - shame about the very thin walls!

The restaurant and bar area is lovely! The food both in the evening and for breakfast was really good.

The walls in the rooms are really thin and the floorboards very creaky making for a very disturbed night.

Amazing Food and Place to Stay

The food and Staff were amazing, location was great and would definitely recommend to others. Breakfast was included with our room and was delicious with plenty of continental choice plus a hot menu and drinks.

It's a really beautiful hotel, comfortable and lovely to look at. It's up on the mountain and there was a flurry of snow so the ground had a light white covering,

Some of the staff. One male reception staff was curt and short behind his false smile. (A room in the hotel needed a bit of vacuuming and someone was overheard quietly suggesting that that particular staff member could sweep it "with the broom he has stuck up his derrière..." 😂😂) All the female reception staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The bar staff at the social event we attended in a function room there were very slow to clear tables of dishes and glasses.

One male reception staff came across as very arrogant. He cast an air about the lobby... other staff appeared uncomfortable in his presence. Just my opinion. No fridge in the room.

I would still book again

Ok check in, the location is beautiful. My room was a good size, and although I did not have an extra bed for my 4yo it was what I needed. This is the first time I can book a king size bed for the 3 of us. Many hotels would push 2 bedrooms for the 3 of us. Who in their right mind would let a 4 year old by themselves in a hotel room. So thank you for that. Breakfast was great.

My parents room was a normal double, the floor was quite squeaky, and the neighbours were loud all night. I have looked at the menu and I was disappointed to see they don't have some old plain pasta that I would have ordered for my LO. Maybe they did, I didn't ask. The mattress was very soft and I didn't really sleep well, but this is down to preferences I suppose.

Wedding Anniversary celebration.

Quick and efficient check in process. Staff at breakfast were helpful and not over fussy. The breakfast itself was filling, freshly cooked. My wife and myself only booked for one night to celebrate our Ruby anniversary, I booked a four poster room and was allocated the Abercynon suite which is their honeymoon suite. The room was good value for money and suited our requirements.

Lovely countryside escape

Very clean and very friendly staff. I liked the call before arrival to check timings and ask if help needed with plans. I was able to ask about closest railway station (Abercynon 6 minutes drive with free parking)

As the part we were in was in the oldest part of the building, the floors were very creaky

Overall I enjoyed my stay and would use the hotel again.

I’ve stayed there a few times now as it’s close to family for visiting. It’s in a great setting too.

At 7.30 am some children were running up and down the stairs. I’d set my alarm 9am so was a little annoyed by this, obviously they had early start but I didn’t appreciate being woken by their antics.

A great find

Excellent location, peaceful and good quality. Staff were polite, professional and the entire booking was efficient. Will most definitely book again!!

Nothing really, but if I really had to pick something, it could do with a light by the sign on the road. The trees were lit up, but not the sign, so unless you know what the hotel looks like you could miss it when arriving. However, this did not impact our stay and we will definitely return.

Gourmet stay up on a hill

It’s up on a hill and does lots of weddings . The staff were very welcoming and polite. The room comfortable and clean. The best thing is the food though- very good standard and healthy options. 3 course meal for £25. Great poached eggs in the morning and brekkie £9
