Palmeira, Piscine - Parking - Clim

The Palmeira is a charming house, perfectly positioned to enjoy the lovely town of Arles. It is mere blocks away from an amazing medieval downtown. The house is cozy but has plenty of space to spread out. The view from the top-floor bedrooms was a family favorite, especially watching the clouds of starlings in the evening. We were visiting in November so didn't use the pool, but it looked clean and inviting. The backyard was a little slice of tropical paradise (picnic table, outdoor griddle). If you're planning on renting a car, the parking space is very welcome (and car-wise, it was an easy drive to reach the highway). The kitchen is clean and well-stocked with plates, pans, silverware, etc. Vincent, the owner, was friendly and helpful and very responsive. The house manual has a ton of useful info about Arles, including lots of recommendations. Sightseeing? 5 minute walk to St Trophime cathedral, the Arena and the Theatre. It's two blocks to the Place de la Republique with the Cryptoportique, endless restaurants, gelato stores, another amazing bakery (Maison Soulier -- grab a premade sandwich and stroll around). You can walk maybe 200 yards and be in an ancient Roman cemetery and imagine walking by Van Gogh at an easel. Hungry? Boulangerie La Feria Du Pain is a block north. There's a Biocoop (a co-op grocery store) next door to the boulangerie for your groceries. Numerous restaurants within blocks. Need a lively bar? Paddy Mullins Irish Pub is a few blocks away. Hung over the next day? Pharmacy's a block away. Big supermarkets (we went to Intermarche a few times) are a few minute's drive away. The Palmeira is a perfect spot to access Arles. And Arles itself is a perfect base for your exploration of Orange, Pont du Gard, Nimes and more.
