The location is great, close to the Esplanade in Cairns, the grocery stores and some clubs are only a few minutes away! People in the hostel are friendly, and there are a lot of long-term stays, who are very welcoming. Also the dorms were comfortable, quiet and kept clean. People at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again!

Great location close to lots of good restaurants. Lively area. Helpful staff. Clean room and bathroom. Hard for us to evaluate though as we were only there because our flight home from Port Douglas was cancelled and there was no other accommodation in Cairns with a private room that wasn’t about $600! We haven’t been in a backpackers hostel for nearly 50 years so digging deep into our memories, the hostel was fine🙂

I have arrived super early. I was able to leave my bags in the luggage room until check-in time. I paid with a credit card. Also, they have a nice cafe right near the entrance. As for me, I had everything I needed.
Note: Walking from the airport is doable; it will take nearly 1.5 hours. I have tried, and I do not recommend repeating :) Uber will cost you 15-25 AUD.
They have a small rest area behind the building; there are a few tables, some for smoking, some for non-smokers... I do not understand the purpose. I personally do not smoke, but a meter from me, someone smokes at the smoking table. How am I supposed to be protected from this terrible smell if the distance is a meter or two?
