Casa Garrote

We loved the location of Casa Garrote - right in the old town with most sites/shops/cafes/restaurants within a 10 - 20 minute walk either up or down the hill. Casa Garrote is an older building, but the room was pretty clean. The bed was comfortable and the facilities (bathroom, fridge etc) all worked well. We liked the quirky cupboard room and the little "dining" nook with toaster, fridge etc. The host provided a portable aircon unit which was definitely necessary in August and we were very grateful for it! Our host communicated with us via Booking.com messaging and was great.

We really loved our stay though there are a few things to note: - If you are coming from the train station, it is a 15-20 minute taxi costing about 12 Euros. There are some buses, but it is a little bit complicated and they aren't very reliable. Booking a taxi was also a little bit difficult! It might be best to do some research or possibly contact the host to ask for advice. - Casa Garrote is very quirky! We really liked this, but, due to the building's age, there are a couple of things to note: the stairs are a little bit uneven so rooms on higher floors might not be suitable for people with mobility problems and the bathroom is a little bit snug so if you are a larger person it might be a bit of a squeeze using the toilet/shower (see photos). - We were in Casa Garrote in the middle of August (+30C temperatures). Our host kindly provided a portable aircon unit, but it was still quite warm in our room at night and the aircon unit was pretty loud (bring ear plugs!). - Casa Garrote is directly on the "main road" in the old town of Cuenca - although this is great for exploring Cuenca, this means that a lot of traffic (including buses and lorries) passes right outside the window and it can be a little bit noisy. We used ear plugs and it was fine! The above are not reasons to avoid Casa Garrote, we would still highly recommend staying there, but it is just useful to be aware of these things!

Tiene todas las prestaciones y se encuentra ubicado al lado de la plaza mayor en el centro, por lo que es genial para hacer turismo y andar por el casco antiguo

Nos gustó todo, pero si tuviera que decir algo como recomendación, es que al estar en la calle principal que lleva a la plaza mayor suele haber mucho ruido de tráfico y tránsito, las ventanas son antiguas y no aíslan bien del ruido, por lo que para dormir puede ser molesto, se solucionaría con un cambio de ventanas

Es un apartamento sencillo, con lo necesario para pasar unos días agradables en Cuenca y disfrutar de su casco antiguo, donde está situado el propio apartamento. La habitación estaba muy limpia y ordenada, y en plena ola de calor no tuvimos ningún problema pues el edificio, aunque antiguo, está muy bien climatizado. A pesar de que en esta habitación que alquilamos no había cocina, sí había una pequeña nevera, tostadora, cafetera, microondas, platos y cubiertos, algo que nos facilitó la estancia. El anfitrión es muy amable y atento. Hay que tener en cuenta que al estar en el casco antiguo el aparcamiento es limitado únicamente para los vecinos, pero hay un parking 24 horas a menos de 5 minutos andando (pero en una cuesta), donde poder dejar el coche sin problemas, y en el cuál existe un convenio con el apartamento que te hace un descuento de 5 euros por día. Nos salió a 17 euros el día dejar allí el coche, pudiendo sacarlo y entrarlo las veces que quisiéramos.

Apagaban la calefacción de noche en pleno Enero, sobre las 24:00h y la encendían a las 9h del día siguiente, noté bastante frío. Las ventanas son antiguas y no cierran bien. Menaje bastante antiguo
