Villino Eleonora & Spa

Beautiful old Calabrian villa in lovely gardens - our room was in the gardens with a private terrace surrounded by olive trees & flowers. A delicious breakfast was served to us on the terrace with homemade jams. Alessandro was a lovely host, picked us up at the station & dropped us at the port for a boat trip. The beach is a 15 minute walk & is stunning, but the climb back up is challenging! Beach towels & umbrella supplied for you. The village nearby has everything you need - supermarkets, a pharmacy, a couple of excellent restaurants, ice cream shops etc. Tropea town is very pretty & worth a visit. The train station which runs along the coast & to the airport isn’t far to walk. Beautiful area & hotel.

WiFi a bit sketchy sometimes & the shower pressure & temperature was a bit temperamental. We couldn’t get the tv to work for the England World Cup match, but hubby watched it on his phone! No big deal though!

Enjoyable stay, wonderful Hosts, delicious breakfasts! The facility is well-maintained with a fairy-tale garden, the room is provided with a complete range of products, convenient location - a train station is close for moving around, beaches are also nearby. I was captivated by the hospitality of Alessandro and Cinzia. This is the place you want to go back to! :)

If I could give them 12 stars rather than 10, I would. From start to finish, Alessandro and Cinzia were the kindest, most welcoming and gracious hosts. From train station pickup to recommendations on points of interest and restaurants, the helpfulness never ceased. And let me tell you about the breakfast! The likes of which I've never seen in Italy -- including choice of beverage, sweet traditional Italian fare as well as savory fare more suited to Anglo/American tastes. The premises are located a nice 30 minute walk from the attractions of Tropea, yet far enough away from the noise while still having small, convenient markets for all your essentials just a few minutes' walk down the street. The Villino is GORGEOUS in the most refined antique way and the landscaping is exquisite. Easy key access yet providing enough security and privacy, including a personal patio. The owners are well-respected and established members of their community, and this is evident in the immense pride they explicitly demonstrate in their property and in their most hospitable treatment of their guests. They treated me like family. I have stayed at multiple lodgings in Calabria but never ever anything this exceptional. I cannot recommend highly enough to those visiting the Tropea area.
