The Lantern Pike Inn

Very warm clean room with comfortable beds and big heater which is important because we stayed there after a long hike in the snow. The location is good for main hikes as it’s 15-20 mins drive from start for Kinder Scout and Mam Tor, the breakfast was superb! Thank you!

Owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming, my partner wasn't well on our trip and they went above and beyond to make sure that she was comfortable, even making a hot toddy and bringing it to the room. cosy room, good food, breakfast was great, nice location and friendly atmosphere

Booking.com says that you can check in from 13:00 but the owners have changed and despite them trying to get this updated, it hasn't. We turned up just after 1pm but couldn't check in, however the staff got our room ready as soon as they could.

We really liked the the pub, overnight stay and location. The staff we're very helpful and friendly, (wonderful) and accommodating for our needs, as my partner is vegetarian. The views we're amazing, and we loved the coal fires. The history of the pub was interesting. Our room was lovely too, very comfortable and cozy.

The only thing we would of liked to have seen is a more modern bathroom, but as the couple are improving it, it was clean and functional.

Exactly what you want and expect from an old country pub b&b. Staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, including putting on breakfast for us even though we came down late!

This was a classic old Peak District pub with accommodation and lots of character. The owners were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was spot on. (The beer was pretty good too!)

*Easy to find. * Parking available. * breakfast included * evening meals served (Home made pies!) * The landlord, Mark, was welcoming, helpful and offered us the choice of an upgrade. * Our room had a comfortable four poster bed and a bathroom with loads of surface space to put out our stuff. (How many hotel bathrooms, especially new, minimalist and opulent ones, give you just the top of the loo cistern, behind the taps or the floor for your toiletry/ cosmetic bag?)

Mark is a gorgeous person oozing with personality. The staff were very friendly. Beautiful establishment with an open fire and great beers. The room was really nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was probably the best full English I've ever had. Local fresh produce cooked and presented perfectly. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a lovely place to stay. It is very charming and relaxing and the staff, particularly Mark, were extremely welcoming. The meals are exceptionally good. I would happily stay again if I was in the area.

The toilet in the room was so close to the wall and shower door that there wasnt much room to manoeuvre. Also the noise was a little too much for my daughter as we had an early morning climb and the noise went on until late.! Although I was advised it was a one off reunion. Also was a Friday night so maybe thats just expected in an inn?

Mike and Gary were brilliant hosts and the pub was cosy and welcoming ,obviously well loved by local people . Food portions were generous for both breakfast and dinner . We were at a wedding in the area so only ate there one night ,but would have been more than happy to eat there again.

There was honestly nothing to dislike about our stay at the Lantern Pike Inn .

Good location to Hayfield Proprietors are very welcoming and friendly with great sense of humour. Beds were lovely and comfortable rooms were very cosy and clean. I was impressed with everything. They even went above and beyond to make sure we got to a wedding reception on time. Superb hosts.

What an absolute gem of a find this place was, the location is ideal for visiting local villages such as Eyam, Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Holmfirth to name a few. Mark, the host, is absolutely brilliant and makes you feel like you're one of the family and nothing is too much trouble for him. His food is second to none, his breakfasts were superb, and the Steak & Kidney pie we had for our evening meal was tasty and delicious. The pub is spotless, with lovely furnishings and our ensuite room was immaculate and very comfortable. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful and you feel like Mark and his team, including Grandad 'Phil' genuinely want to make your stay the best ever. They definitely made our stay one of the best we've ever had, and we definitely want to visit again. Finally, the Lantern Pike has strong links with Coronation Street, some links with Emmerdale and Mark also has a link with Kathy Staff (Nora Batty), but you will need to visit the pub to find out all the very interesting facts direct from Mark himself. The local village Hayfield is also where Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring) was born, another interesting place to visit. If you want to visit and stay in the Peak District, you must stay at the Lantern Pike, you won't be disappointed. We'll Done Mark and all your staff and thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

Probably one of the most hospitable and friendly places we have stayed. Mark and his staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Friendly atmosphere, friendly staff an great food.

Very well situated for walking and visiting nearby sights. Mark was a very genial host and very attentive to our needs. The food was of a very high quality. We would definitely stay again.

The landlord was a very pleasant man and his staff equally so. It was a community hub where everyone appreciated what the landlord was doing. Meals were reasonably priced and generous with the helpings. Lovely view of the countryside.

Parking was tight but the location on a steep hillside could not be altered!

Not only the breakfast but the bar food was excellent: an extensive menu, freshly cooked using locally sourced ingredients. The location is superb with plenty of great views and walks close by. A proper village pub with a super friendly landlord

Some refurbishments going on during our stay but these will only enhance the property when completed
