Very nice rooms

Only a small criticism, we couldn’t turn the radiator off so it was very warm in our room, but everything else was fantastic

Very friendly staff absolutely loved our room it was very spacious and very cosy lots of things to do inside the pub

I rarely give a review, and many hotels wouldn't warrant a good one either, but The Countryman is truly exceptional. The staff were welcoming, attentive and very pleasant. The food too was superb, and we had both breakfast and evening meal. Cleanliness must the best we've ever seen anywhere and the room delightful. This is one venue we fully intend visiting again.

Lovely spacious room and excellent evening meal. The kitchen floor was being re-laid so we could not have a cooked breakfast but this we were made aware of this and offered an alternative

This is the first time I have stayed at The Countryman Winfrith. I had heard it was very cosy and a nice pub. I have to say what I had heard did not do it justice. From the moment we entered we were welcomed by very nice friendly staff. The food was extremely nice and good size portions. A good selection of drinks the staff went above and beyond to supply us with one of their own games to play at the table whilst we were eating and drinking. Then when we checked into our room what a very tastefully decorated room it was. The room size was much bigger than expected with a lovely en-suite bathroom with a very nice large walk in shower with a rainforest shower head. All the cleaning products you could imagine with extras. Then onto the bed at first I wasn't that impressed as it was 2 single beds joined together to form a very large bed. My opinion soon changed when we got onto the bed it was possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. When me and my wife decided it was time to go to sleep we both fell asleep instantly and had possibly the best night's sleep we had both had in a very long time. Then we went downstairs for breakfast and were greeted and shown to our table the breakfast was delicious and the service as it had been the day before was extremely warm and friendly. We left The Countryman knowing we had a very memorable stay and would definitely be returning and staying there next time we are visiting family.

This place is great, ideal if your visiting the tank museum 2 miles away. Rooms are of a v high standard. Excellent bathroom, we had shower and a bath with great free toiletries. Tea and coffee were also provided. We had a great stay. Finally, thanks to the staff who were excellent and a shout out for Justin who looked after us with a lovely breakfast and great service !!

Noisy at night but to be expected being above a pub, our room door rattled everytime somebody used the main door but this was a minor flaw compared to the overall experience

Being told as we went for breakfast that we had to move our car, trailer and motorcycles from the residents car park as building equipment was waiting to be unloaded. Should have been told previous day surely! After breakfast water had been turned off in bedrooms! Before our time to vacate.

Lighting in the corridors is well below that of a safe Lux level. Decor, and all wood work needs replacing (tired and dull)

Noise from quiz evening

Room was very big. Bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately it looked as though a previous guest had locked a dog in the bathroom and the dog had then tried to escape by scratching at the door, leaving very scruffy paintwork.

See above. Also the one evening meal we had was perhaps one of the worst ever. Steak very underdone, fries hard and cold. To their credit the staff were very apologetic and did not charge for the main course or drinks. The impression was the staff tried hard to please but were inexperienced amateurs lacking any leadership from the business owners. We ate at another local inn in East Lulworth and it was a totally different, excellent experience. Just a few little changes could make the Countryman so much better.

Bathroom a bit shabby - silicone around the bath - window needs decoration and cobwebs remained there for the five days I stayed. The small wash basin was dominated by a central tap which made it difficult to wash your face without spilling water. Similarly, the bedroom window let the rest of the bedroom down which was beautifully decorated. Door to the letting bedrooms from the dining area/bar seriously in need of decoration. This is not a good first impression when you arrive. Personally I am not a fan of filter coffee machines and the coffee was usually bitter from standing.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really great - tasty and beautifully presented. The location in the countryside was lovely - nice walks on the doorstep.

The shower took some time to work but once the water arrived, it was fine. There is some mould on the shelf over the sink.

Room was more than expected in size, nice bed, breakfast was quick and very good, evening was pleasant nice pizza outside with some live music.
