A beautiful location, but the experience was stressful and disappointing due to repeated room issues, poor communication

The location was beautiful and the hotel surroundings were lovely.

Unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. On arrival our room had a broken window, so we had to change rooms. Then the keys repeatedly stopped working, leaving us unable to enter the room multiple times throughout the stay. Because of the key issues we were late for our 6pm dinner reservation, which was stressful. At the spa, a staff member came in abruptly and spoke to us in an unpleasant manner about wearing swimming caps, even though nobody else was wearing them, and it made us feel singled out. On the last day, the room keys stopped working yet again. When I raised these concerns to the manager, I felt the issues were not taken seriously. The stay was far from relaxing, which was the whole purpose of the trip.

Lovely clean and great food

Myself and my partner had a lovely night at this hotel , very welcoming. Room was unreal tidy, bathroom was spotless. I booked a double bedroom and it was very spacious. Had dinner in the captains bar again lovely food. Breakfast the morning after lovely also. It was my partners 40th and staff had left some lovely wee chocolates in the room for us both. Would defo go back.

I would of preferred if our room had view of the bay but unfortunately we had a view of the car park.

The location was nice.

The receptionist did not greet us or give us any information just got us our key. The room was not clean, the furniture was in poor condition, tatty and the whole room was under whelming for the amount of money that we spent. She wasn't interested after complaining about the room.

Where's the residents bar??

Staff very chatty, helpful & friendly. Hotel spotless clean. Breakfast very good. Big carpark, great location, fantastic scenery.

We attended gala dinner on Fri evening. Soup was almost cold. Dinner was not very hot either, warm is how I'd describe it. Complete confusion regarding where the residents lounge was or IF there was one. Up & down the stairs for a drink!!.

Nice, but not for the price

Staff were all excellent, beds incredible, decent breakfast offering, food from the captains bar decent. Rooms are a decent size.

A bit rough around the edges, just needs a bit of TLC across all areas, dirty shower head, dusty lights around the hotel. No welcome folder in the room but referred to online (and present in other rooms). All in 1 body & hair wash in a 4* hotel seems wild, our 3* BnB offered shampoo, conditioner and body wash separately. Super cheap toilet roll. Wasn't wowed for the price of the room.

A relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.

We had a lovely room with a sea view so even when the weather was not great , we could sit in comfortable chairs and look out across Lough Foyle. There was also a coffee machine in the room for a good cup of coffee. The food served in the bar and at breakfast was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We both had spa treatments which were also very relaxing. The hotel is right on the shore and accessed by a long drive from the road alongside the the golf course which set the tone for the holiday. There is also a lovely little bar-restaurant next door which can be reached via a footbridge.

The complimentary toiletries are a combined shower and hair gel in a dispenser which is much better for the environment but we had expected shampoo and conditioner.

Location is great, as are loch views. Restaurant food quality is good. Service is very friendly, prompt and helpful.

Room charging from spa and bar was more complicated than it should have been if even allowed (spa for some reason couldn’t). We had a suite which I assumed would be seaside but actually overlooked the car park and was right over the outdoor patio for the bar so got a lot of second hand smoke and noise until late. Apparently the smaller rooms were seaside? It was quite warm both days and there is no air conditioning, which made it uncomfortably warm in the room until late. Window units in the rooms on the west side of the hotel could remedy that.

Beautiful scenery and amazing dishes at lunch/dinner when you eat at restaurant, friendly staff, easy access and lots of parking available.

Very busy probably due to golf and outside visitors. Rooms need safe this is a must and I would air out the rooms between guests especially in summer. Breakfast was 6/10 some fresh produce would be nice whatever is local.
