An unforgettable homestay on a tea farm. Located right at the start of a terrific hiking trail. Our room had a large window that overlooked the tea farm. Rooms also come with a sample of the farm’s oolong tea which we sipped on which we watched the clouds and mist roll over the tea plants.
The host was incredibly kind and accommodating as well! She offered to pick us up from the bus stop and frequently offered us rides to/from the town center throughout our stay since the homestay is located uphill and approx 15 mins from the town center.

The location is right amongst the tea plantations on the way to Alishan, and the beginning of Fog / Misty trail (a part of a 3 mile loop through the area with lots of scenic spots) begins right next to this homestay. We splurged and got the most expensive room which had an incredible view during sunrise, sunset, and even during regional rain, beautiful bathroom and design. Not all of the rooms have that view, so I’d highly recommend booking the top room if you’re making the trek up to Alishan. The hosts were soooo warm and welcoming, drove to pick us up from the Shizhuo bus station so we didn’t have to worry about carrying luggage uphill in the rain. They also have a really friendly senior cat, adding more charm to the place. I’d definitely go back to the same place if some forest / nature therapy is needed.

Wow! Tucked in the hillside along with many other home stays, right at the start of one of the many short trails through the tea fields, Green Incense was maybe our favorite stay in Taiwan! Reasonably priced, huge room with amazingly-large windows looking out over the terraces, it was a peaceful oasis. Great traditional breakfast, and the lovely hosts helped us get to and fro when arriving and leaving. We LOVED it!!

Very friendly hosts who are happy to pick you and up drop you off at the station.
Setting is stunning
Served cold coffee at breakfast. No milk was available. Bed was very hard. Shower was an odd bucket with attachment.
