La casetta di Ortigia

The location is really amazing- just off one of the main little streets packed with restaurants that lead to the main square and the cathedral. The room is accessed through a locked gate, and there are a few other apartments in the courtyard. It's quiet at night. The apartment was clean and everything was good once I got the AC working and the skylight window closed.

The host didn't let me know how to work the AC in advance- it took a few messages. There were no welcome instructions at the property. Same with the skylight window, which was open and connected to some sort of remote control. The WiFi also was not connected and not working. After a few messages and some troubleshooting, I got the Wifi router (which is a tiny portable thing) working, but it was spotty at best- it was unplugged and needed charging, apparently. Once that started to work, the remote control for the skylight also worked. Not sure if that was connected, but I'm glad it wasn't raining. The AC only works by putting your key into a socket on the wall. A minor point- the photo on Booking.com of the facade was old- the door had since been renovated, and didn't exactly match the photo. So I had to go around to all the possible doors and do some sleuthing- I was hesitant to try to open the door in case it was someone else's house. There weren't any specific numbers to help with this.

Everything was perfect (apart from the two things mentioned in the negatives below). The location is very central and convenient, the apartment is very spacious and clean with all necessary amenities. The host was very responsive and friendly, and gave us some good tips for restaurants in the area!

There is a ceiling window which was always the reason to make us wake up early in the morning as it would make the whole room super bright. The shower water pressure was also super low and the water low. We could not properly shower. We could also not figure out how the WiFi works and ended up not using it at all - we could have asked the host but were not bothered.

La ubicación, muy céntrica y accesible de todo tipo de comercios, con supermercado al lado. La terraza, muy agradable y luminosa en el interior de un patio de manzana. El baño en buen estado, con ducha amplia, y agua caliente funcionando regularmente. Toallas de buena calidad.

La gestión regular. Solicité hacer antes el check in para poder trabajar por la mañana, y el día anterior no me contestaban a los mensajes de booking, y tuve que contactar el mismo día de llegada por teléfono. La casa no estaba preparada, y hasta las 3pm no hicieron la limpieza, perdí toda la mañana de trabajo. Al hacer el check out, tampoco se podía dejar el equipaje, ni me ayudaron para proporiconarme alternativa de consigna o similar. La casa no tiene apenas ventilación, tan sólo la puerta de entrada, ya que el resto de las ventanas están condenadas y no se pueden abrir. Se ha hecho reforma y está todo más o menos nuevo, pero el mantenimiento no es bueno. Manchas en las paredes, sobretodo de la cocina, y el escurridor de platos estaba roto, asi que desmontaron los entantes de la nevera (algunos también rotos), para sustituirlo. El altillo tien muy poca atura (mnos de 1,5 m), por lo que no vale para que duerman adultos. Las camas de arriba, sin cambiar sábanas y sucias, Tampoco las dejaron preparadas. La hervidora de agua oxidad y no funcionaba, no la sustituyeron, tampoco hay tostador ni microondas.
