Toparadis Guest House

Location is perfect especially is you don’t have a car. It’s 6min walk to the shop and 8min to Pereybere beach. There’s another beach walking distance from the guest house called Bain Boeuf Public Beach. The staff was really nice and friendly. Very safe with beautiful facilities. Food was also very good!

Old. Fridge is old, aircon is old and missing a cover. For the price it was disappointing as you only get a kettle and two cups. No complimentary coffee, water or anything else is provided.

The location was fabulous, the resort deco was fun and quirky. The pool and rest areas were super. The food at dinner was also really good.

The first room we got had a musty smell, so we asked to be moved sadly that room had the same odour. The room layout was strange in that the bathroom was bigger than the room and the cupboard was in the bathroom.

The location of the guest house is great and as advertised. There are a few beautiful beaches very close to the location; they are, however, mostly private. You can still spend your day there, just something to be aware of. Additionally, La Cambuse Public Beach is close and also nice. The exterior space of the guest house is appealing. In addition, the guest house offers free parking and free beach towels, which is appreciated.

The biggest problem with the guest house is the atmosphere and how guests are treated. We stayed for two weeks and did not once feel welcome. If you are not speaking French, you feel like a secondary guest. We had staff turning their back on us when we wanted to exchange beach towels every other day and staff roll their eyes when they approached us. In general, the atmosphere was far from professional, also due to the director Ms Bellefroid. The director talked to every French-speaking guest; she did not once come to us during breakfast, despite us being the longest staying guests during our stay. Even worse, on some days she had acquaintances staying at the guest house, which led her to being extremely unprofessional. Next to loudly ordering her staff around and talking about them badly in front of the guests having breakfast, she responded to my partner asking for a different kind of yoghurt that "this is what we serve and that's it" in an extremely rude manner (btw. just because someone does not speak French, they still might be able to understand it ;)). I have stayed in many hotels due to travelling a lot for work, but I have never experienced some kind of show like the one of the director during breakfast. Anyway: The breakfast quality is all right, the amount of breakfast is meagre for European standards as has been mentioned by other guests. You can choose either eggs or small crepes but not both (quality is good). In addition, each guest receives a tiny (homemade) bread and a small amount of fruit. Sometimes you get a "cake of the day", which is also remarkably small. We would have loved to have eggs for breakfast and crepes and more fruits. This breakfast felt like the bare minimum they had to provide. The wifi signal in the room is often bad, as mentioned by the hotel. This feels like it could be an easy fix to provide more service to the guests.
