This property and experience way surpassed our expectations!

This place way exceeded our expectations. Absolutely stunning property in the middle of the rice paddies. It was so serene to wake up every morning to these views. The staff was incredible and the management team was very responsive and accommodating leading up to our trip. We would highly recommend Sanak Retreat to anyone visiting Munduk and we can’t to visit again ourselves!

The pool was amazing, the staff were kind and helpful with everything we needed, the rooms were luxurious, and the spa was incredible Definitely worth it.

Great place for an authentic Bali experience close to amazing mountains, forests and waterfalls

A lovely restaurant space looking over the rice fields. I also appreciated the ecological and socially/ethically conscious philosophy that were the guiding principles of Sanak. It is a place outside of a town or city totally in wet rice fields that are still being farmed. The management had organised some activities for guests that were more creative and culturally aware. We were not there long enough to sign up for anything including the spa which only opens after midday.

Sometimes the farmyard odour of the place was a little strong but that naturally goes with choice of location.

Epic villa and magical

Amazing location and sunset in the rice paddies. Beautiful decor. Gorgeous bathrooms. Dinner and breakfast served in the villa.

The rice paddies next to the villa were being harvested so we were kept awake by the sound of device that scares away birds while the fields are harvested. Any other time might be a lot quieter, but we struggled to sleep.

Wonderful experience in a beautiful place

We absolutely loved the place. The hotel is very nicely done, the rooms are beautiful, very well decorated & with a nice terrace. The setting is fabulous, very quiet, surrounded by rice terraces, great views. You can walk around the area (it's not overdeveloped) and with a car / motorbike you can explore the region & waterfalls. The pool is very nice and breakfast was also good. Fantastic customer service, we forgot sth and they were very helpful and nice about it.

It was an undeniably beautiful location and property! A bit remote, but that is part of the charm.

We felt a bit “trapped” once we arrived with little to do in the surrounding area easily. We had a hard time keeping young kids entertained, even though they had a playroom the toys were old, broken, and dirty with missing pieces. We took a guided trek to a waterfall, and while lovely, was hard for the kids (physically). Other than the pool, they had little in the way of entertainment for kids. We had to eat every meal there, and the menu got old by the 2nd day. While large, the beds were very hard with an uncomfortable separation in the middle.

Hidden gem in Munduk

Sanak was an amazing hidden gem, that keeps you away from the madness of Bali, taking you to a very relaxing and heart-warming location where you can enjoy the quietness. The staff were absolutely amazing and look after us every single time we needed. The food was tasty and fresh. Let's not forget the spa treatment, it was outstanding the best 3hours of my life. Thank you for being so good with us.

Peaceful and perfect

I loved everything. It was the most beautiful and serene place I’ve stayed in Bali, nestled amongst the rice paddies and mountains. The staff were so kind and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The massages were divine and breakfast was delicious too. It was my birthday and they went to so much effort to make me feel special, it really was a weekend to remember.

The only thing was the fact there was no AC in the rooms.

Sanak Retreat is paradise! The location is amazing and the view over rice fields with mountains in the back is breathtaking. It’s a great place to relax. The house was beautiful and super clean and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. We’d also recommend to do the village trek as you learn a lot about the nature around you and the village life. We’ve also got a massage which was amazing.

Beautiful place but minimum room amenities

Beautiful view, surrounded by rice field and mountains, cool breeze, a nice place for a retreat. Staffs are friendly and pretty good breakfast. Bed is comfortable I got to enjoy a good night sleep.

For such premium price we get no toothbrush, no kettle to make hot water. Water heater in the shower is weird, its hot for a minute only then it gets very cold most of the time, The next day its not working at all so I have to shower with cold water before check out.

A real hidden gem in Munduk

The room is comfortable, though a bit warm during the day as there is no AC, and pretty chill at night. Beautiful view from the restaurant and food is great !
