We had a wonderful stay at The Gap Lodge. Síle was a lovely host. Kind, helpful, and very friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We were at the back, so there was no noise from the busy road. Although at night there was very little traffic anyway, so any room would be fine. Breakfast was tasty. Síle cooked some eggs and left them heated in the breakfast area, along with cold options eg. Cereals, fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon, meats & cheese. She served toast and bread to the table. I had porridge. Parking was ample. The house had a sitting area that guests could use, as well as a fridge, microwave, and cold bottled water in the fridge. It's a 5 min drive into Donegal town where you can park in the day for €0.30/hr or free after 6pm. There's lots of restaurants and pubs. The Reel pub even had Irish dancing by three girls who were world champions! Lovely beaches are close by, as well as the spectacular Slieve League cliffs (higher than those at Moher). We drove the awesome Glengesh Pass, then visited the cliffs on a circular route from the Lodge. Donegal Castle is worth a visit. The restaurant Biddy O'Barnes is 1 min drive away (or 15 mins walk, but the road is too busy to walk on, in my opinion). Lovely food, but no music.
