Really nice hotel in a great location to visit the bookshops in Hay.

The staff were lovely and the hotel was great. Dinner was delicious.

Comfortable and easy!

The hotel was really cozy, the staff were present and attentive. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The location was brilliant - right in the village, a stroll from most pubs, and restaurants. (Tina on reception was very friendly!)

Great hotel in a central location with exceptional food.

Central location with a range of facilities. Clean, well appointed rooms. Great choice of food throughout the day. Exceptional breakfast and evening meal. Staff were amazing, went above and beyond and are a credit to the hotel.

We chose the property for on-site parking and its central location. However, parking on site is very limited and we had to park in a council carpark with fees payable outside of 6pm to 8am. There are less than half the number of parking spaces to thenumber of rooms.

Very small cramped room. Comfortable bed, but overheated and slightly grubby.

The location is excellent. Very close to shops, restaurants etc.

Very overheated. The room and public spaces were tired. A lot of awkward stairs. The room didn’t feel clean. Bathroom very basic - nowhere to put toilet bags except the slightly worn floor.

Great location, and would definitely recommend.

It was walking distance to everything in Hay. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was really lovely. Free parking. Room was very clean. The only kingsize bed I could locate in Hay and it was comfy!

Bedroom and bathroom were both quite small. No lift, and because it was a January and it was quiet, there were few people around, doors to the hotel were locked at 10 (could still access back of hotel), and therefore no atmosphere. No ones fault, just a fact.

Location, breakfast, cleanliness, friendly staff

Our first room was very small and in the front and we asked to move Our second room was a decent size, the bathroom was very nice, good hot shower, the furniture in the room was obviously "bespoke" the door on the wardrobe was loose and hanging off, there was no lighting for the area containing the coffee/tea facilities and it was we very dark, also no mirror for my wife to do her makeup Also the bar was closed and we weren't advised on booking

Excellent stay to meet up and dine with relatives made more enjoyable by friendly and helpful staff.

Excellent comfortable room, staff and dinner.

The lighting in the dining room was rather gloomy. The lovely staff did find us a lamp which did improve things but I am sure the lighting would affect people eating there in the evening (particularly non-residents) which is a shame as the food and service from everyone including reception and bar staff was excellent.

A beautiful and lovely New Year break!

I loved the fact it was very presentable, the staff were friendly and the rooms were spacious with a great view. The staff were all very accommodating and it was such a lovely stay overall.

I would say there wasn’t anything we didnt like about the property - perhaps maybe the parking situation but then that can’t really be helped and we managed to park in their free car park or there was a public one quite close by, but luckily we managed to park into the hotels car park.

A lovely stay

We stayed for one night and it was absolutely lovely. We were in the main house, our room was a good size, warm and clean. The beds were comfortable and the hotel bar super cozy with a fire place. We really appreciate being able to stay there for as long as we wanted, with drink served all night. The staff was SO friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast buffet and hot breakfast options from the menu were fantastic - with a good amount of vegetarian/dairy-free options. The location, only a 2 minute walk away from the Cinema Bookshop, was absolutely perfect. We would definitely stay again.

Really had a lovely time.

Lovely location and the hotel had lots of charm. All the staff were very friendly, polite and welcoming.

The only minor gripe was that the towels provided were quite thin, really rather shabby and more grey than white. They did the job and it is a very minor complaint.

Location great. Managed to park in hotel car park but limited spaces. Well kept and warm. Twin room small but comfy, clean and quiet good blackout curtains.. Bathroom basic but functional. Shower power was good. Poor choice of hot drinks and basic biscuits on hospitality tray. Bottled water available. Lovely efficient staff at reception and in dining room. Dinner was lovely. Breakfast was OK good choice

An excellent option for a "books safari" in Hay

Good courtyard downstairs room, not over-spacious but perfectly clean, very well equipped, spotless bathroom, good shower. Friendly staff, very pleasant service at dinner and breakfast. Good range of options on menu.

Car park is small for size of hotel. I was lucky to get last space on both nights I stayed but had to arrive at 3pm and 4,30pm to do so.

Great weekend away

Room was very comfortable with a great shower! Good food and a great breakfast

Only minor niggles, we were in room 18 which opens directly on to the courtyard/ car park. Unless you had the blinds down anyone in the car park could see straight in to the room. Would recommend the entrance door glazing and the bottom half of the sash window be fitted with some opaque privacy film. Also the heated towel rail did not heat up due to a faulty thermostat. Not a problem for us but would be a cold bathroom in the middle of winter!

Amazing friendly stagg

Amazing location 2 minutes from the centre. Lovely room and immaculately clean. Staff extremely attentive, from the man on reception when we checked in, to the bar staff when ordering food to our room last minute (highly recommend their pizzas and skin-on fries!) Special mention to Ellen who went above and beyond with our requests at breakfast. Many thanks again!
