A nice break in a children friendly environment
The location was great and the hotel was suited and geared towards young families. This created a lively environment, without being overwhelming.
The breakfast location was too small for the number of guests, resulting in queues, We tried to get a coffee elsewhere in order create space, but this turned out to be impossible save for the breakfast location.

Some staff are helpful and and listen to guest needs. Other staff need empathy training.
helpfulness of desk staff re watching football in the bar and eating dinner in the bar. Why don't you do bar meals?
Having to wait in the morning for breakfast because my name wasn't on the list. I presented my room key and said I was pushed for time and needed to have breakfast quickly, as I had a work appointment 12 miles away. I found the member of staff unhelpful and insisting that my name wasn't on the list, keeping me waiting, despite the fact that I had my room key as proof of my residence. Teach your staff to have more empathy and understanding and not insist on petty rules, when guests have proof of staying in the hotel.

Pleasant, but expensive stay in a stunning location.
Breakfast: quite a good selection on offer for breakfast, with attentive staff on duty.
Dinner: Very good in Fratelli's with attentive staff.
Pool and spa facilities lovely
The location: it is right beside Roe Valley Country Park which is absolutely stunning at this time of the year (autumn).
Dinner not great in The Coach House where the veg options were limited. Also, although there was a coat rail for coats, at no point did any of the staff offer to take anyone's coat, even when the one belonging to a customer at a neighbouring table fell on the ground. Another neighbour had to ask twice for crayons for their child while waiting for food. If the venue is four star, then I'd expect the service to be the same.
Room: Surprised that there wasn't any decaffeinated tea, coffee or herbal teas included in provisions, especially given that it is a spa hotel; also surprised that the venue is still using small plastic bottles of shampoo, shower gel etc - not very eco friendly

Don't Bother -
The food was beautiful and staff in the Coach restaurant were lovely.
Staff at check-in did not smile and weren't very helpful. Same person 2 of the mornings very pleasant to other patrons who were more formally dressed. My husband were there to relax and so dressed in jeans etc and trainers. I really feel some staff could benefit from some training on unconscious bias although I suspect their bias was completely conscious. We spent close to £1k for our stay and our experience was 2* at best.
Our 'Deluxe Suite' was on a small corridor off the residents lounge. Access was consistently blocked which was frustrating as well as a health and safety breach.
Room was single glazed and either sauna hot or freezing cold. The thermostat did not work at all and the bathroom was freezing cold day and night. There was nowhere to store lugggae which is not what I would expect in a suite. Space in the single wardrobe was taken up with an ironing board and shower door not sealed properly.

wasnt as nice as before
The whole new play area, arcade for the kids were new additions and was quite great.
Staff (Sharon) was very nice aa we were checking out.
From the last time we were in this hotel, ai thought there were changes in the room that wasnt much for improvement. Our room was nice but it lack life unlike before. I cant explain it but we felt it right away. There was sonethibg wrong with our toilet (it takes a looonnng time for water to refill - pressure issue or something). just not like before.

Very relaxing wee break.
The location was beautiful. The breakfast was excellent and our dinner in the Coach House was delicious.
The dessert menu in the Coach House was very poor. Would like to see maybe apple crumble or coconut cake with custard or even pavlova.

Underwhelmed
The lady checking us in was lovely
This was a return visit. I had been there at the start of the summer 2025. The resort was lovely, we had a ground floor room which had a pleasant feel to it, understated luxury. This time around we were given the room next to the lift - the hotel wasn't busy. The security lock was broken off the door and the room had a sparseness to it. It was clean etc. but just didn't have that nice feeling from the previous visit.
My real reason for returning was for the food but the menu was slashed, I previously struggled to make a selection as everything sounded so nice, this time I just struggled to find something I would eat ( I'm not a picky eater). In the end I picked something so we could get our meal over with. There wasn't really anything wrong with my selection, but it wasn't what I wanted. I understand menus change but this one was massacred.
The whole resort feels like it has undergone a severe cost-cutting exercise and the result is that they have been successful in making it just like any other budget hotel except it's not at budget hotel prices.
I had bragged about my first experience at this hotel and when the opportunity came to go back there, I jumped at it but I was just over all disappointed.

Lovely place but food is disappointing.
All of the staff were commendable at all times.
We didn’t enjoy the breakfast as some of the items were precooked and dry.
We were very disappointed with a meal in the Coach House. I ordered risotto which was practically tasteless, our salads were of poor quality, no alternative was offered for the uneaten risotto plus we were charged full price after giving our comments to staff.

Hubbys birthday weekend
The bed and room were very comfortable
Food in coach house was lovely although getting alittle bit dear to eat there.
The hotel was packed with children and people never saw this before but went well.
Ben served us in residence lounge lovely young guy and was very friendly and mannerly.
Sharon and Patricia are very nice on reception always very helpful to deal with and very friendly.
The breakfast on sat 24th seemed to be a little out of sorts, wasn't working too well we were kept waiting awhile to be seated, and staff looked so unfriendly, not great service, no water in glass jug, yoghurt was finished, it just wasn't the same atmosphere there, just wasn't running the same, usually a nice relaxed place.

Roe valley
Hotel was lovely and clean room big and comfortable. And pool and spa facilities good. Staff was lovely and very helpful couldnt do enough for us.
There was a few things the food in the coach house was ok jus and the building very rough. Definitely not as modern as the hotel itself. My husband ordered guiness in both the hotel bar and the coach house and he couldnt even drink them. The wait for the reasturaunt was half an hour to get in for breakfast which weve never had to do anywhere we have stayed. Definitely could have been a order with more staff. There was familys with small children crying and getting restless which is understandable.

Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were so good to us particularly the land-rover guy. Will be back
Playpark, jet ski and land-rover experience were excellent staff were so good
Spa closed for treatments, couldn't use bouncy castle as too wet. Maybe a different bouncy castle with a roof would be better. Better signage needed for land-rover experience or even better a driver to take you over in a golf buggy would have been an extra special experience and fun. More kids attractions would be fab like crazy golf, soft play, kids club with cooking , go-kart track especially with all the space outdoors. Some fish in the lobby or something would be lovely for kids to look at. A sensory style room. Especially if this is centred more towards family's maybe a few centre park style activities with so much outdoor space it would be fab.

The restaurant was only open for breakfast so dinner was only at the fancier one. We were hoping for more casual for dinner one night.

Great Location
Lovely location and staff are very friendly and helpful.
With all the renovation going on there really wouldn't be much for my 10 year old grandson apart from the pool. He's too old for the games zone and too big for the wooden climbing frames. The rooms could do with being redecorated as they're a bit worn looking. Also the increase in prices at the bar was very noticeable.

Room was v comfortable although we had to move rooms twice due to problems
Breakfast was v nice and food good but limited variety
Staff in Coach House were slow and not as interested in customer satisfaction you expect from four star resorts

Decent stay with decent food, leisure facilities could be better.
Setting, beautiful grounds, breakfast and dinner were really good.
The trek to the leisure facilities, these aren’t very well sign posted and not entirely connected to the hotel. The pool area is very dated, noisy and not overly clean. Would be nice to have adult only areas which are a little quieter and more relaxing.

Overall, a great overnight stay for families with young children. Would definitely recommend!
Great activities for families with younger children. Stayed with my 10 year old son and he loved the mini jeeps, bungee trampoline and jet ski. Play park is in an enclosed space where you can keep a close eye on your LO's from the comfort of the lounge area. The Little Boar's menu at Fratelli's where kids get to make their own pizza was a bit hit with my son too. Hotel/restaurant staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful - special mention to the lovely staff who were overseeing the kids activities on 6th July 2025. Overall, a great overnight hotel stay for families and will definitely be back again.
I would have preferred to have seen safety helmets provided for the kids on the mini jeeps. A mini fridge in the room would have been a bonus too!

Gulten free requirements is pathetic
We enjoyed the pool, and the room was comfortable and clean
Dinner time was very poor for gulten free
The waiter had to go back and forth to the chef to check what was gulten free for each item. There is no set menus with allergies on the menu
There was not one item on the dessert for gulten free, very disappointed in a 4 star hotel
Breakfast was pathetic, one bowl of gulten free cornflakes beside wheat cereals for cross contamination
I was offered gulten free toast, and the waiter took 15-20 minutes to bring it back. As said, it caused her a track of a walk to get it. I felt I caused more inconvenience, to be honest.
It was my husbands birthday and we couldn't enjoy a nice meal with dessert as there was nothing for me and he didn't want to eat dessert alone
I ordered fish as was only a safe option, but at the end of my meal, i found a piece of pasta. If I were celiac, this could have been a very dangerous situation
Waiter apologised for this and said this is why we don't cater for gulten free.
I asked on booking.com and emailed the hotel before our booking and emailed back to confirm that the gulten free is most definitely no issue.
I feel roe valley park needs to step up !!

Relaxing, satisfying and rejuvenating.
We had s lovely evening meal followed by a fulfilling breakfast the next day. Staff friendly and food was nice the breakfast had alot more choice than before.
The pool area and sauna, jacuzzi could do with an update. Unfortunately couldn’t have any treatments as no staff were in that day, however the lovely lady at the reception said I could avail of the Mud Rasual and I did my first time ever and it didn’t disappoint. Would recommend this treatment.

Disappointed.
The Receptionist, And My room cleaner
I didn't like a single thing about the hotel.
It was just a hotel, not even a "HOTEL".
Putting a pen and note pad beside the bed, does NOT make Roe Valley a Prestige hotel.
Holes, and old fittings in the Bathrooms, ( No Toilet brush).
Window fasteners are loose and shabby.
The last time I saw a Three "ROUND" pinned electrical plug was back in the 1960s.
WHERE, is the Convenience of a plug beside the bed to charge your phone.
Business users and the General public, are constantly attached to our phones. I don't want to plug it in across the room and have to get out of bed to check my messages. (Who does that. ?)
NOT the General Manager, Not anyone on the Board of Directors, i can guarantee that.
I have stayed In alot of Hotels & HOTELS.
Limited supplies of Bottled water, (2 Bottles) I have NEVER come across such a lack of facilities in a room.
The "FITTED" sheet on the Double bed. (Stretch nylon) that doesn't fit. "Seriously" How do you expect people to sleep on that thing. !.
How. ?.
The Drive up to the hotel is marvellous. And very well kept.
The only draw back to it are the people that use the Golf course as Regulars.
Those People that think the Speed limit of 20mph doesn't apply to them. Those people that force the hotel visitors to brake sharply and take evasive action to avoid a collision, because they are late for thier T-off.
This hotel has been taken over by NEW owners, and reviews say this, that and the other will be sorted.
I doubt that will happen, this will get bad review after bad review.
One think you can sort TODAY is the where some fool allowed the placement of the Builders carpark, Building area.
Visitors are your NUMBER 1 Priority.
That carpark is Massive, Move those workers, and that "DUMP" away from the hotel. It is an eyesore. That can be done Today at NO cost.
Will it be done. I doubt it.
Today they were shooting a promotional video.
Cop on.
Disappointed. ?

Excellent and a most pleasant experience.
Room first class
Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice.
Dinner was very nice and timely but it would have been better served in the same place that breakfast was served - a much nicer venue and no damn stairs!
