Room for improvement

The space in the room, the bathroom, facilities (welness/pool) The positioning from the hotel in the city. All very close by. The bar was super. Person working there really qualified and experienced with every drink on the menu. 5 stars to her.

Breakfast price was way too high for what you get. 32 euros per person? for burned bread buns? Very watery scrambled eggs. Continuously waiting for fruit and meat even at 10.00. 15 euros would have been a better price as most hotels ask everywhere. For 32 euros I expect way more luxury and diversity. In the room so many tv channels but no option for screen sharing or Chromecasting. Or options for apps (Netflix or Disney). Also the room was very warm. Temperature could not be set below 19 Celsius. We had to open a window to cool down. But that also made all the noise from outside come inside (tram, police, cars, people). Small thing. Only one side from.the bed had a power socket. So 1 phone had to be charged somewhere else in the room. (Or get USB-C sockets in the wall). And at 9.45 in the morning we had housekeeping at our door entering. We had a 12.00 checkout. So really not necessary.

A pleasant stay in a lovely city.

Good location, close to Heumarkt for tram stops, bars, restaurants and the Christmas Market. Good choice at breakfast.

Temperature control in room didn't seem to do much, meaning that room was a bit too warm.

Horrible experience, will never come again

High price with zero comfort, high price for just a bed, i paid 3700euro for 5 nights, and spa not included and have to pay extra cost 18 per person per day, then why they add photo of the spa if not included

gracious staff, ten minute walk to the Dom and the museums, close to the market where everyone eats outside in good weather.

The lighting system in the room was a little confusing, although there was plenty of light for everything I needed.

Not a very good stay

The location is very good

Bed was very small for 2 persons. Staff did not speak good English so we could not communicate. The room is only cleaned every 2 days!!! We called reception and room service a couple of times and they never replied.

Disappointed with the adults-only pool

The hotel is centrally located, close to the shopping streets. The interior is nicely decorated, and the breakfast was very good, with the option of freshly made omelettes.

The swimming pool was adults-only, which was a real disappointment for my daughter and not clearly stated on the hotel page. The room lacked enough towels and pillows, and I couldn’t reach the lobby by phone. After asking in person, the pillows were delivered an hour later. Parking was convenient but very expensive.

Mixed Experience at What Was Once a Favourite Hotel

I’ve stayed at the Dorint Heumarkt in Cologne on three separate occasions, with my most recent visit in June 2025 and the previous one in June 2023. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed a marked decline in quality over time. What was once, in my opinion, one of the best hotels in Cologne now feels like a hotel struggling to maintain its standards. The rooms and communal areas appear quite dated and are showing signs of wear and tear. On the plus side, the staff continue to be friendly and professional, which is a definite positive. Breakfast is okay – not amazing, but the egg chef in particular helps elevate an otherwise average selection. There are plenty of hot and cold options, though nothing particularly special. Location is always a huge plus for this hotel & there underground secure parking if needed. It is central but close to many of the public transport links. Overall, while the hotel still has strengths – particularly the staff – it is no longer the high-standard property I first experienced. It needs significant attention to bring it back up to the level it once held.

The major issue during this stay was the air conditioning. On arrival, it wasn’t working – with outside temperatures over 30°C, this made the room very uncomfortable. I reported it before going out, but when I returned, nothing had been done. I ended up losing a night’s sleep due to the heat. The next morning, I informed reception again, and after four more hours, it still wasn’t resolved. Only after I escalated the issue was I finally moved to another room – which was in much better condition. While I appreciated the eventual resolution, it should not have taken 24 hours and multiple complaints to sort out something so fundamental.

Relaxing expierience with access to all sightseeing and transport in Cologne

Everything. The rooms themselves, tea, coffee Nespresso, cleaning, reception stuff. Spa has just swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna but for short trip was enough. Room unexpectedly had 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms. It was very comfortable as we were with small child. Good quality cosmetics in room. To Duomo and the river, train station 5-7 min walk. Underground is downstairs, next door to the hotel. Very good breakfast, 2 restaurants downstairs. I took in consideration this net of hotels for future. Wonderful experience!

Lovely stay in Cologne, great location/hotel, public transport superb and the concert at the Lanxess area was out of

Superb location, just around the corner from the cathedral and main squares.

The car parking charges are steep to say the least €180 for 6 days with no discount for staying in the hotel and the air con in the room wasn’t the greatest.

Great hotel!

It was easy to get to by car (with GPS.) Great location. Within walking distance to the Cathedral. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was nice to have a bathtub. The restaurant had very delicious food. It was a lot of fun in the lounge with the live band. Parking is underground and convenient.

The parking can not be reserved so you just have to hope there's a spot available.

Poor service

The room was big and spacious (we had a suite), the bathroom was lavish, and it was well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The location is great, just a walking distance from pretty much everything. Breakfast was rich and abundant.

Big service problem. A few days before arrival I sent an enquiry regarding parking. I wasn't made aware of any problem with the hotel's parking lot and was provided with the name of another alternative parking place as well. Upon arrival, I discovered that the hotel's parking lot is under construction (and has been for a while now), and will not be opened any time soon. I tried a different parking lot, but the road was blocked due to road work. I stopped in front of the hotel to ask where to park, only to be given the name of the blocked parking lot. They insisted that it wasn't blocked, so I tried it again. It was blocked of course. Eventually, they referred me to a parking lot that required quite a bit of walking (with all the luggage). The room wasn't ready upon arrival. A bed was missing from the room and it was set for two people instead of three. I've made the reservation several months in advance, I suspect they had enough time to prepare for our arrival. Upon check in we received one key card. I requested more since there were three of us, and received more cards, none of which worked. I went back to ask again, and was given other cards that also didn't work, at which point I simply gave up.
