The position on the beach was really beautiful and very safe for the children
Lovely pool too with a small slide!
The staff were very friendly
There were a few bars/ restaurants quite near
You couldn’t get food after 10pm.. a problem if you have a late flight!
A bit too out on its own!

The hotel is in a great location, if you're looking for a quiet beach-front hotel. There are a couple of nice restaurants within a short car journey or you the food at the on-site restaurant was also good. The hotel is very close to memories beach, which is walkable across a small bridge (maybe 10 minutes walk).
Since we booked family rooms, I think it would be fair to assume we have children with us. For some reason, the family rooms are all located upstairs, with no lift. Multiple parents with small children had to carry buggies up and down the stairs, which wasn't very easy or safe. Our young son (4 years old) fell down the smaller set of stairs (maybe 5 or 6 stairs) and sustained a nasty bruise to his leg.
There is also an issue with the surface around the pool. The hotel claimed it had recently been renewed/laid, but for whatever reason, sharp pieces of stones are loose on the surface, leading to 2 of our children needing medical assistance to remove the stones and treat the wounds. I also had to pull a piece out of my own foot, which was painful.
There are also two sets of people at this resort - those on all-inclusive and those that are just bed and breakfast. We didn't stay all inclusive and we weren't offered the chance to pay to upgrade on check-in which we may have been interested in. I feel like that's a missed opportunity for the hotel.

We enjoyed the quieter location and facilities. Lovely bar on the beach to watch the sunset . Well kept , tidy & clean , staff were very helpful. We were able to rent a motor bike within walking distance so the we could explore the area.. Also plenty of local restaurants within walking distance.
Nothing to dislike

Design. Quiet.
The buffet. Masses of mediocre food. Restaurants are confusing. So we ate elsewhere after the first dinner.

Cleanliness, friendliness of staff.
Not much going on night time wise - live music on a Friday, fire show on a Saturday and nothing else.
All inclusive doesn’t include certain areas & can only purchase drinks & food after 11am (all inc buffet is available til 10.30am but barista drinks were off limits til 11.
A bit far out from everything but we knew that before booking.

Very nice room and bathroom, we stayed in lagoon view room.
Breakfast really basic, undercooked and cold. Coffee machines are really poor, taking forever to make a coffee and spitting water instead of milk when making a latte ... expensive hotel with a very old and ugly white plastic chairs around the pool, horrible massive white bags of sand in front of the pool between the sea, this could be improved with some nice rocks as it takes away the potential nice sea view.

The room, breakfast, WiFi and pool
The beach water was too far away and was under construction. No sun beds on the beach. The step into the bath was too high. The air conditioning never stopped and was too cold. You couldn’t open the door and have the other key inside so the room was too hot after leaving for an extended time. The dinner food was not hot and gave all 3 of us upset stomachs. The outside market was great but a 22 minute 700 baht round trip from the hotel.

Very relaxing, fantastic facilities and the staff were friendly and welcoming
A bit far from some of the excursions eg. Phi Phi island trips etc but this does not reflect on our quality of stay.

A perfect, peaceful resort to end our 3 weeks of travel. We booked a two bed private pool villa. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were exceptionally friendly.
It is a little bit secluded but we knew this and was the reason we booked this resort but might not be everyone’s ideal location.

This hotel was our last stop travelling Thailand. We splashed out and it didn’t disappoint. The villa was incredible with a beautiful private pool. The hotel facilities were clean and the pools were amazing. A large complex but gold buggies always around if you have tiered legs. Food was amazing and staff were lovely. Wish we could have stayed for longer in this little piece of paradise!!!
Location was a little isolated but that didn’t bother us after 2 weeks travelling we were more than happy to chill in peace and quiet. The bar next to the hotel is great. We upgraded to all inclusive so didn’t need to leave. Maybe the hotel could do more of a shuttle bus into town regularly for those who will be going out, but didn’t bother us.

Food at the bar, peaceful beachfront bar, spacious beach area, stunning sunset view

Excellent location facing the beach, great infinity pool facing the beach, with small toboggan and kids area, renovated restaurant and Ila cafe, amazing food at Karkinos beach restaurant, surfboard rental, plenty of lounging chairs, pool shower
No elevator so this could be an issue for families with young kids or elderly guests ; the rooms could be renovated and freshened-up, but overall well-maintained and clean ; kids playground is oldish

The location is perfect for surfing, close to nice waterfalls and many activities like kayaking in nice small lake. I came very often here. The staff is very friendly and supportive, the breakfast very good with big choices of fresh made food.
I was in the meanwhile like ten times there.

We liked the beach
We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa and we were extremely disappointed with the layout and the fact that there was only one bathroom which had to be shared by our party of ;4 adults. Too add to our discomfort, the bathroom was an open plan concept with no doors and the toilet and shower stalls made use of transparent glass with only a narrow horizontal strip of frosted glass to supposedly hide ones private parts. In addition, the bedroom doors were also a mix of frosted glass and wood which bought the light in whether you wanted it or not. Extremely frustrating when the early morning light lit up the room and made it impossible to sleep in. We were also surprised that here was no common living room or seating area in the 2 bedroom villa. When we queried why, the staff replied the living room was only available in their 1 bedroom pool villas! Finally, the rooms still used old non smart TVs supplied with a terrible selection of outdated cable TV channels. Last gripe - the quality of the towels on offer in the rooms were very poor and did nothing to dry you off after a shower.

The hotel is located on the beach next to an excellent surf spot, which was fantastic. The beach bar served excellent food and the staff were fantastic. All in all a nice relaxing hotel and I would return.
The breakfast was incredibly basic. The main restaurant was cheap, but the quality of food could be better. The gym is stuck in the 1970s and needs an upgrade.

Our stay at Apsara was wonderfully relaxing. The resort is well kept and we had stunning weather considering it was the start of the raining season. The food and spa was wonderful and the scenery is so serene.
There was a small hiccup at check in regarding our transport from the airport, this misunderstanding was sorted during our stay and was mainly due to the reservation staff being away for other duties (which meant my emails weren't responded to). However, because of this misunderstanding, we didn't get the warm welcome we were hoping for, and instead we received questions and accusations were made to indicate that we were at fault. It wasn't a pleasurable check-in experience at all and no mention was made of this during our stay. I decided to take it up with the hotel manager on duty (Emee) and it was sorted in an amicable way, however, I would have appreciated communication from the hotel's side to rectify this misunderstanding.
