We’ve been travelling for 8 weeks around Thailand and thought we’ll splash out on our trip to Ao Nang.
After spending around 5500THB per night we were disappointed once arrived.
Minimal maintenance has occurred in this 10yrs old hotel with dangling not working lights, towels with holes in them, flaking paint on some walls.
However, the pool was partially inviting, but having green/drown tiles makes it appear looking like a pond !
Just change the tiles to blue.
Upon research to almost every other hotel with 2km of the beach, this price was cheap.
In summary, we won’t visit Ao Nang again as super busy and over priced.

The worst hotel ever seen and customer service ever received
This is the worse travel accommodation experience I've ever had. We booked 2 rooms for 3 travellers and both rooms had the same problems. Mould everywhere: on the AC units, walls, cushions, in fridges, all over the shower curtains. The locks on the front doors felt incredibly flimsy while some on the balcony doors simply didn't work; the balcony doors were also full of holes, which is a disaster for mosquitoes. The hotel is next to restaurants so as soon as you open the windows the rooms are full of the smell of fry oil. The curtains and the shower curtains in both rooms were ripped. The toilets were, simply, not clean. The furniture is stained and the finishing are literally falling off. The safes are not bolted down are are not heavy, and so fundamentally serve no purpose. For the price charged, it feels like a prank. We discovered all of these issues as we arrived, tried to open the balcony doors for fresh air because the mould gave one of us an immediate headache, tried to shower and take a nap after a long day of travel, and tried to store our things. When we went downstairs to complain and cancel our reservation, the one person on staff was completely disempowered and had to call the boss for every step in the process. First, we were offered a free room upgrade where, while it was clear the rooms had been more recently renovated, had the same security issues of the door locks (not upgraded), the safes (not bolted down) and mould on top of the AC units (simply unsafe to breathe). We refused the upgrade and requested a cancellation with refund; the boss refused and refused to speak to us directly on the phone. When one of us finally spoke with them, it was a 1 hour negotiation to receive an offer of needing to pay for both rooms for one night because "you've been here so long that we can't reserve them to anyone else now". The boss wouldn't give anything else.

Hidden gem
The pool, the style of the hotel, a bit like an old Mexican posada. It was a nice surprise, because it doesn't look like much from the street POV.
Some elements need renovation or deep wash but I think it's making it look ancient and stylish.

Location for me was great. Walking distance to main streets and beaches but far enough away from late night noise.
Room was huge, bed comfortable and the buffet breakfast was all I needed, eggs, toast, cereal, fruits, coffee etc.
Small night market around the corner, 5 min walk, with pad thai, rice dishes, seafood bbq, bars.
What is not stated anywhere is there is no lift. I was on the 4th floor and for me the stairs were ok. Just to keep in mind if you are not particularly mobile perhaps request a room on the lower floors.

Central and quirky - you get what you pay for
Location and price. Room was large although we didn’t use the bath on the veranda which was upstairs.
The swimming pool was ok with some shade available.
Laundry was available in house for a very reasonable price price.
Staff were always helpful and there is a really good Italian restaurant in the building.
We had a room on the 3rd floor; staff carried our luggage up but it was a bit of a trek if you’re an old bloke with dodgy knees like me.
There was no safe in the room and few power points and definitely no USB points. Only one bedside table and lighting was average.
It was all a bit cheap and cheerful. The hotel looked as though it had recently been repainted but possibly by someone with a yard broom and vision impairment.

This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel. Everything is great here: the location, the rooms themselves, the attitude towards guests. Very friendly staff who will help with any question! The hotel itself has a great massage service that works until 22:00, a good swimming pool on the 3rd floor. Very quiet and comfortable! There are many cafes nearby, the beach is a 3-minute walk away. Thank you very much 😊

I stayed at Ao Nang Colors Hotel for 14 nights in June 2025, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, from helping with local tips to arranging a smooth check-in. The hotel’s infinity pool was a highlight—sparkling clean, with stunning views of the surrounding cliffs, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
The rooms were large, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with modern decor and super cozy beds that made every night’s sleep a dream. The location is unbeatable—right next to Ko Dam Kitchen and Umberto’s Cuisine, so you’re spoiled for choice with delicious dining options just steps away. Ao Nang Beach is also a short walk, making it easy to dive into the vibrant local scene.
Everything about this hotel screams quality and care. I can’t recommend Ao Nang Colors Hotel enough and will definitely be back!

A total disappointment to the prices we’ve paid.
Its location is really close to the main street.
The whole hotel is kind of run down. The room is not well lit, and sometimes it takes forever to get hot water for the shower. Floors are not well vacuumed and there’s sand here and there. We stay at the top floor and the AC in our room is really old and noisy. Last but not least, there’s mosquitoes some nights, and there’s no bug repellent in the room, so they completely ruined my nights.

The worst Booking.com hotel I have ever had. Avoid this place.
The staff were friendly and tried to help
The wifi kept going out and was not working. The first day I let staff know about the problem. They said they would try to fix it. The second day it was still going out and when attached very slow. I need wifi for my business and am always very careful to select a hotel that has good wifi. Unfortunately this hotel did not have functioning wifi. After the second day I told staff that I had very important meetings the next day and if they couldn’t get the wifi problem fixed I would have to check out a day early and find another hotel. When I tried to get a refund for the last day the manager sent an email and said that the wifi is fine and if it was a problem they would have moved me to another room or sister hotel which was a total lie. I asked for help two days and they couldn’t fix the problem. He also said that the hotel was fully booked during my stay and that this was probably one of the reasons the wifi wasn’t working.
The other thing is that I agree with other posters that the hotel seems tired and old. My bed sheet had holes in it and my pillowcase had a strong smell of woman’s perfume indicating that it had not been washed. Overall this place and the manager are terrible. The regular staff were very kind and helpful. I would avoid this place and stay at Navinda which is where I went after the wifi problems weren’t addressed. Navinda was a great hotel in comparison.

Amazing, clean and comfy and within walking distance of the beaches and night markets.
The design of the hotel is lovely with an Italian architectural vibe. Bed was massive and the A/C was more powerful then a plane and probably the best shower I’ve ever used :).
