Chanalai Garden Resort, Kata Beach

Plenty of staff were very unwelcoming towards me. The first room I got was a terrible experience. Room *** It's a superior room with twin occupancy. I requested for queen bed. The first room offered to me had no disposable slippers. No disposable comb. No towels for drying. Only pool towels. My tv was not working showing only blank screens all night. When I called the reception, Vonn picked up and I relayed my agony to him that the t.v. is not working. I keep flipping the channels. But a blank screen comes up. Vonn says that he will send a technician to look into my room TV. But nobody came I to look look into the error. I called again and the same person Vonn answered and said that he will send a technician to look into my matter. I asked for a new room and he says that I had to pay another 1600 thai baht for a room upgrade. Staff does not seem to understand that I asked for a room; not an upgrade of room. It's appaling to know that front line service staff is unable to comprehend basic simple English. Very disappointing. The entire night I could not sleep because it was noisy. I specifically asked for a quiet room with queen bed. At every phone call I was snubbed at by the receptionist *** On the first day of check in, Staff at reception has the nerve to tell me that they do not accept booking through Agoda in a very unpleasant manner. If it does not have Agoda booking in the hotel database, I would not have got a confirmation at all through Agoda.com that I have confirmed booking with Chanalai Garden Resort. Staff did not bother to check Very poor service rendered to me on the first night of check in. The next morning (Friday morning) when I tried to open the Safe. It was suddenly not working and it automatically locked. I had to call reception and informed them that my belongings were inside the safe. A technician came to the role.of *** and can speak English telling me that I have to come up with a combination number every time I open the safe. Technician admitted that the safe is faulty. The shower gel bottle was more than half empty and the room floor was also not clean. How can a property that sit on the luxury katha strip treat its customer in a shabby manner. Very few kitchen staff understand English. During breakfast time I asked the chef to make me scrambled eggs with cheese and mushrooms and capsicum. I got an omelet instead. Surprisingly chef can speak English but says does not understand what I am saying when I spoke in English. Treated very very shabbily by the kitchen chef. Made me wait for scrambled eggs at breakfast table for half an hour after taking an order. The next day I got a better room from a staff by the name ***. Please take note the staff by the name of ***patiently listened to my feedback and told me that she would bring me to see another room. Infact the staff led me to see another 2 rooms before I settled on the room ***with a view. It's not the best room but I can see the staff OMAM made the effort to retain me as a customer. I also had a good night sleep in room ***. However, kitchen staff also needs basic training when taking orders from customers who take room service orders because when i dialled and called to order juice, my call was passed over three times by the kitchen service staff, making me repeat my drink order 3 times until the 4th person could understand my order. I spoke in basic English but I am being made oblivious in a hotel in which I paid for. If the hotel is undergoing extensive construction in the name of renovation, why is there no message like a brief signage to remind customers "sorry for the inconvenience caused" at the front line reception? For Chanalai Garden Resort, isn't every customer who stays and pays; irregardless what customers' can afford important? Being in the hospitality management, should you not treat every customer fairly and equally? Does Chanalai Garden Resort not wish to retain customer value? Does Ch

From arrival we got greeted with a friendly welcome and arrival refreshing drink and a cute little ice cream 😊room was lovely and spacious and enjoyed our balcony too! Pools were fabulous and everything was close too! Thankyou for making our stay enjoyable

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. I loved the location as you can just walk down and across the street and you are at the beach! Plenty of restaurants and massages around. Nice easy walk to Kata Noi beach. If you are staying here, i would recommend visiting Fira beach club at the top of the hill (10 min walk). 2 pools were great. One is more quite and the other one has a swim up bar. Breakfast was ok, i wish there were steamed or sauteed vegetables on every day. Bed was comfortable. not as hard as most places. Good gym! overall. i really liked my stay and have no issues recommending it to others.

- hotel layout is very weird. You may need to take 2 lifts and stairs to reach your room. - asked for a simple to access room. But given one that required 2 lifts and a bit of walking - paid for buffet breakfast for one day. Options not great. - room is decent. Clean - bar closes early - taxi touts positioned at entrance are a nuisance
