Twilight House

Comfortable room with large TV with access to Netflix.

Check in was difficult as I hadn’t communicated via WhatsApp. I had arranged to pay cash at the cafe as I did not want to use the link I had been sent to pay. I expected to be given check in information when. I paid, but was told to follow a young woman who was quite surly. She took me to the room and told me I had to WhatsApp a message in order to get the passcode to enter. It seemed unnecessary and slightly annoying. The room was on a path with people walking directly by the window and looking in, so not very private. It is quite a walk uphill from the old street and I would advise spraying insect repellent before venturing up. There is no kettle in the room, just a water machine in the communal hallway. This was one of the most expensive places on our trip to Taiwan with fewer facilities and less friendly staff.

Gorgeous property in an amazing location.

Really tricky to find. Our property was close to the main point of contact and other hotel residents would get lost and come to our door, which was tricky.

Loved our room. We had a small outdoor space with table and chairs. The room was well equipped and they explained how to get there very clearly with their videos. The cafe was tranquil and we enjoyed a peaceful stay.

On the pricier side.

Clean, tidy and comfortable

Payment was taken in full from my debit card a week in advance of our stay. Upon arrival they demanded the full price be transferred to them again and said the payment was a “holding” fee. It won’t be refunded for a month… nowhere was this explained when booking. Can they not just authorise that payment?? Host refused to use Booking.com chat. Cafe affiliated to the host told us they really prefer cash, not card, despite having a card reader. This was after we told them we had no cash! 🤦‍♂️
