Shimbwe Meadows Retreat

First of all, the people: The staff were so kind and helpful. Traveling as a solo female in a place I had never been before was somewhat nerve racking; however, I was reassuringly greeted by my driver at the airport and transported to the home effortlessly. Upon arrival, I was quickly offered lunch and some delicious local fresh-pressed juice. The staff all greeted me with kind smiling faces and were so genuine and thoughtful, I immediately felt welcome and happy. Second, the rooms: Everything was beautifully decorated and clean. A warm shower, clean beautiful linens, and a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro awaited while I took time to rest from a long flight. Local art work was on display and the beautiful decorations were meticulously chosen to keep in line with the cheerful, warm, care-free vibe of Tanzania. Lastly: the convenience. The owner had so many connections, knowledge, and expertise to the wide array of adventures to be had in Tanzania. From hiking Mt Kilimanjaro to going on a safari and even enjoying the local cuisine, music, and culture this place really created a sense of "choosing your own adventure" and then having it customized to your dream vacation. It had it all! I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing, fun place to stay with the reassurance that your vacation would be planned seamlessly. Incredible care ensures you get the most out of the experience. It was one of the best places I've ever traveled. Thank you for making my experience amazing!!

Truly nothing. It was wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay at Shimbwe Meadows and truly enjoyed the experience. The property is set in a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Tanzania. What really stood out was the hospitality. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. They made us feel at home and were always happy to help with anything we needed. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and the overall atmosphere of the property was calm and relaxing. The food was also very good, with fresh and tasty meals that made the stay even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway away from the busy city, surrounded by nature and genuine Tanzanian hospitality, I would definitely recommend Shimbwe Meadows. We had a memorable stay and would be happy to return.

Had struggled with the Wifi which could have been avoided but that is fine, Beatus tried his best to give hotspot and be available to solve all issues.

We had a great stay at this B&B-style hotel about 30 minutes outside Moshi. The rooms are fairly basic, but clean and comfortable, and the setting is really nice with views of the forest and Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. The rooftop viewing platform is a nice touch. Beatus, the host, was welcoming and very helpful, especially with planning a safari and suggesting local hikes. The food was very good and reasonably priced, and Janet did a great job preparing and serving our meals. The main downside is the location-it's a bit remote, which makes getting to and from town (about 20-30 minutes) less convenient. The WiFi was also hit or miss at times, though that's somewhat expected given the location.
