Cosy cottage for two, ideal for walking and cycling, Castle Acre with 14th century Priory and Norman Castle short walk.. All on the Ground Floor:

Explore the picturesque village with its pubs and coffee houses set around a traditional village green. Peddars Way and Norfolk Coastal Path on the doorstep. Firstly the owners of the cottage were lovely and helped me on the first day find the location when roads around the farm had road closure signs temporarily in place which confused me. The cottage is in its own garden despite there being other cottages on the farm and is completely private. Everything we needed for the weekend was provided including really helpful suggestions for things to do and places to eat locally. The property was very clean and everything worked perfectly well. Excellent shower! It was just what we needed. The only detail I found difficult was the sinks. Both kitchen and bathroom sinks are very tiny so a little awkward but this is because of available space but the property has been designed with considerable thought to provide so much in such a relatively small space.

Pity the microwave is on top of wall cupboard, very dangerous with hot food, they provided steps to reach it. Oven did not work. Fridge needed defrosting so couldn't store frozen food. On the upside, nice hot water, good shower and lovely garden.

Lovely peaceful and pretty setting. Comfortable accommodation and just right for 2. Kitchen is in need of a refresh but we enjoyed our stay and walks to the local town. Local OS maps were specially helpful. Be warned that you can't drive from Castle Acre back home through the ford, but its a lovely walk.

Admittedly the Frenchmans cottage is very snug, so if you are looking for acres of room this is not for you, but we absolutely loved it and were made to feel extremely welcome. It was ideal for exploring Norfolk due to it's location, and offered a peaceful and cozy base to enjoy the evening, albeit a short drive to Swaffham for all your modern needs.
