Good location but very basic

The location was good being closer to the city centre, everything was clean and the bed comfortable enough. The host responded quickly to my query message, even if I didn't get what I wanted (a hot drink!).

Other reviews talk about a kitchen, which was closed and apparently isn't usually accessible to short stay guests anyway, and there isn't even a kettle available. For me this meant I arrived tired and cold late at night expecting to be able to make a cuppa to much disappointment! The small room is right next to the shared bathroom with no sound insulation, so if you're sensitive to noise it's not great for a peaceful night's sleep. The room is very small and there is only one power socket and you have to squeeze down the side of the bed to access it.

Received a list of 'dos and donts' - not particularly welcoming. Noise travels through the house and disturbed sleep. Disliked having to wait to use single shared bathroom.

Cozy and quiet

It's a quiet house in a quiet street. The staff was super helpful over messages while I never saw anyone. I felt cared for while I didn't have to talk to anyone, which I enjoyed. The room was clean, the view into the garden beautiful. It is also close to a wonderful path next to the river.

Cozy as the name says!

The facility was clean and tiny. City centre is easily accessible either on foot (less than 20 minutes) or by bus (less than 15 minutes). Common areas were also kept extremely tidy and carried all types of kitchen appliances. Much recommended!

It was lovely for a couple of days.

The bedroom was lovely and the bed was very comfy. The shower was lovely and it was a nice place to stay for a few days.

As i am a tall person the shower was abit short but other than that it was grand.

Pleasant

Very nicely located room, with everything you need to cook and prepare the breakfast. The common area is nice and cosy. Check-in / Check-out is smooth and convenient. Globally very clean. Even if we don't get to see the tenants, the interactions with them are very cordial and efficient. You are in a calm residential neighbourhood just 15 min away by walk from the very center of Oxford.

The very small room is just aside the shared bathroom, which mean you are awakened every morning and sometimes in the middle of the night by the sound of someone using the toilet, which is not the best experience on earth. Also the curtains are not opaque at all, so it's hard to get back to sleep after that. The bathroom itself is not very well suited for tall persons. Finally I really appreciate the care given to be eco-friendly, but then the most immediate step to improve the environmental footprint would be to change the very thin and old single-glazed windows that let all the heat go outside.

Comfortable stay in Oxford

I had a very comfortable stay here for a four day work conference. Everything I needed. Comfortable bed and good shower. Great location - easy/short walk into town.

The shared bathroom was a minor drawback as the guesthouse was busy when I was there so I had to wait a few minutes to use the bathroom. But really not a big deal at all for the value of the stay.

the host is very friendly and the room makes one feel at home in Oxford. when you really need a very clean surrounding,

this is a really nice house in a nice area and a beautiful room.the kitchen is useful to cook by yourself.

I did not know that there was a shared bathroom.that would be important to know.i had to clean the bathroom every time before I could use it. that was a bit annoying.

there were major renovations going on during our stay but we were not notified beforehand. walls were dripping with wet paint, dining room area a mess, everything was like a construction site.

Had a hard time managing the stairs with my bag but they wouldn’t have known that.

Room was very nice but two flights of steep stairs up. I had a large bag so it was a little challenging.

I was unsure as to what was appropriate using the toilet. Instructions said not to flush toilet paper (???). I didn’t but it didn’t feel very sanitary.

Room Four and the bathroom latch need work.

The location was good. The other guests I did meet were friendly. The bathroom was clean. The key/entrance situation was straightforward.

The room number four has a strong unpleasant odor. I fear the carpet is soiled(I hope not the mattress). I used air freshener and aired out the room. It smaller like stale urine. The latch inside the bathroom door is scary! It doesn’t have reliable action and you have to fiddle with it quite a bit to get it to close and open. You are afraid of being locked in. Also, being in room four, you have to hear people struggling with the latch at night.

The location was fine and the property was nice.

It was agreed that I could be arriving at 3pm but I didn't receive the code to get in until 3.30pm. As such I was waiting in roasting heat for half an hour. I was very annoyed. I also think the owners should make clear that other people are staying in the property - my friend didn't arrive until late and walked straight into someone's bedroom (thinking it was a front room).

Good

The decoration is great, the beds are comfy, great location. The owner is responsive and helpful (despite not being physically present).

The walls are very thin. Avoid taking room 1, as you will hear every person going in or out of the house, your roommate above, every conversation in the lobby/living room, and even the machines running at night. Had a problem with the heaters when I arrived so it was cold around the house for a few days (until a caretaker came to deal with the issue).
