The hotel itself is charming. The location is ok - although there is neither view nor possibility to go for a walk without driving a car or so the staff informed me. The space to relax around hotel is small but tidy.
The charge for the dog - it is 20 euros. For what? For the fact that the animal sleeps on the floor, uses NO towels? The would not charge for another human or child. ABSURD. The staff is neutral but totally unhelpful and definitely not open to propose any solutions. Experience not worth the price.

This place is perfect if you want to do some hiking in the Parc National des Calanques. The staff were very friendly and explained how to get to the calanques, where to start and what to avoid. We stayed one night however we'll return to complete the rest of the hikes, the rooms are small however clean. Perfect if you plan to spend time outdoors

We chose Les Volets Rouges specifically because of its proximity to Le Parc National des Calanques, and for that purpose, the location was absolutely perfect. It made starting our daily hikes incredibly easy, which was the main goal of our trip. The hotel itself is lovely, and we enjoyed its general charm and convenience.
However, we found the room to be very small, which made movement a little difficult with luggage. Also, we could easily hear the people in the next room, which affected our sense of privacy.
While the noise and small size were disappointing, the superb location and the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel mean we'd still recommend it to keen hikers—just bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper!

It included parking.
Bathroom was tiny, no closets or even luggage rack to put your things.

* Positives: Serene environment, good breakfast.
Check-in instructions were clear, as we arrived late (10 PM) and had to use the online check-in process. However, upon arrival, we found the gate closed with no visible keypad, just a lit-up bell. After trying to figure it out, we called the number, and the gate opened—but we were immediately greeted by an aggressive staff member shouting at us for calling the phone no
The staff's reaction was excessive and made us feel uncomfortable. If this had happened in the US, it would’ve felt threatening. We later apologised, but honestly, the owner should address the staff’s unprofessional behavior and also fix the keypad issue.
In the dark, the keypad on the outside had no lights, and that's something they need to improve.
That said, the rest of the stay went smoothly:
* Negatives: USB ports didn’t work, Wi-Fi was patchy, towels weren’t replaced, and Uber wasn’t available (but local taxis can be arranged).
Would I recommend? It's a peaceful place, but the staff's attitude left a bad impression, and it made us uneasy about returning.

The location and outside seating was lovely
The owner was incredibly rude at every opportunity. I don’t know if it was because we were English or because we were a groups of friends waking rather than a family or couple. I paid £600 for 3 days, didn’t drink on the property and was in bed by 11pm every night yet he barely disguised his absolute anger at having me there. Eg. There is nowhere to dry swimsuits in the dark bedroom , nor elsewhere on the property so over breakfast I discretely left my bikini to dry high up on a wall out of sight for 45 mins. He removed it and when I asked him if he had seen it he angrily replied ‘this isn’t a laundry. It’s a hotel not a house. You can’t just leave things wherever you want.’ How polite!

Nothing
Super small room, doesn’t look like it shows on site. Lobby works 8am to 6pm. No refrigerator- neither in the room or any other facility. Very strange hotel

Location is unbeatable, right in the Calanque National Park, you can start alot of hikes directly from the back yard. Plenty of parking at the hotel.
The walls are paper thin, you can hear conversations from all other rooms around you. Rooms are also incredibly tiny, barely 10-12m2 incl the bathroom.

A perfect spot in the Calanques Natural Park, from where you can trek to the spectacular beaches. A trekking far less crowded that the one from Cassis. Very attentive team, that will help you in all your needs. Cozy room in the middle of nature. Good breakfast. Around 7 mins from Cassis by car, where you can find a lot of restaurants.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is just a short drive away from Cassis (so you are not in the crowded city). Breakfasts and dinner at the hotel were superb, i literally had maybe the best squid pasta in my life🙏! Right from the “backyard” of the hotel starts one of the routes to the calanques, which for me personally is a big bonus as well!
Thank you!❤️

Food was delicious; quiet location; friendly staff; comfortable room, although a little small for a family of four; we hiked to the Les Calonques from the hotel and that was so convenient!
Our room was on the small side for a family of four, but we still slept comfortably. It was a drive into town, but that just meant that the hotel was quiet and away from all the tourists and noise.

The property was lovely and in a wonderful location - right in the Parq nacional de Calanques, à short drive from central Cassis. The breakfast (croissants, fresh yogurt, fruit and homemade jams) was excellent. And the staff was really nice (and accommodating of our lack of French skills)!
The rooms are small but clean and have everything you need.

Wonderful quiet and picturesque location, extremely easy to find as it is right next to the main road from Marseille to Cassis. Easy and spacious outdoor parking, secure at night due to locked entry gate. The air conditioning worked really well.
The room is very small. I am 188cm (six foot three inches) and there is barely room to put a big suitcase (unless standing it up). This means the bathroom and shower are also very small. Given the remote location, it is curious that the rooms are not more generously sized. It is the kind of size you would expect in Paris or another capital city, where land is extremely expensive. This hotel however is located far away from any city, big or small. Smaller issues were the weak wi-fi signal, which meant a slow internet connection, and the lack of any TV channels other than French (we speak French but even so it is nice to have some English language channels).

Great location, quality breakfast, nice quaint hotel. Clean and well finished rooms. Good starting point for hikes in the nature reserve to the beach.
Dinner not available on Sunday and Monday, so you'll have to be able to transport yourself to the town. But they did have recommendations for pizza delivery.

Nice restaurant onsite
The room was very small and didn’t have a fridge. The hotel was quite some distance from Cassis or any other shops or restaurants.

The hotel is really beautiful and well located for those who wants to stay away from The city center and close to the Park.
The room is small, but that was is the room description so no surprises.

The hotel is nicely situated close to the national park. As such the rooms are quite small but clean
Actually, we didn't feel welcome. The atmosphere was very cold and distanced, though we stayed for a week and the hotel really was not overcrowded. It was not only the language barrier, we felt also French guests were partly astonished by the unpleasant surroundings, which somehow leads to an odd feeling in such a small place. A host that doesn't say a word, not even "thanks" or "good-bye" after one week of stay, should reconsider his profession

Room very clean, well organised and modern. Relaxed, informal atmosphere. South facing porch. Landscape and proximity to Calanques d'en Vau hike.
Room far too small. Road noise. No bar or restaurant on Sunday or Monday.

It was a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, the location was simply incredible in the middle of the woods and we received a warm welcome from the hosts. We want to come back! Thank you very much!
Honestly, nothing!

Modern room with very comfy bed. Palm Springs style desert decor throughout the property - very cool. Nice to be out of the hubbub of summer Cassis. Outdoor seating areas very pleasant.
There was a light that flickered on and off outside my room all night. Whiffs of a sewage drain.

Small, quaint good location in the Calanques right outside Cassis
There was a sewage smell coming from our bathroom all night. We had to keep the door closed because the oder was rancid in our room.

We’ve been traveling throughout Europe for 3 weeks and stayed at many different hotels: this one was the absolute WORST. The owner was extremely rude and took advantage of us. I regret giving him our money.
Every hotel we’ve stayed at had complimentary coffee in the morning. We assumed this was the case at this hotel. Every morning the owner watched us pour coffee and never once mentioned that it wasn’t free. He secretly watched us and counted how many cups of coffee, while never mentioning that he that it wasn't free, then charged us 42 euros FOR COFFEE!!!!!! Insane. When we were checking out he said “nothing is free.” He tricked us. I’ve never been to a hotel where absolutely nothing is complimentary. I’m surprised he didn’t charge us to use the shower. I don’t mind paying for coffee - but he could have told us beforehand instead of tricking us and secretly counting without saying a word.
The hotel felt cheap, the decor was awful (we could have been in a cheap hotel in Denver, not France). The rooms felts sad and grey. No ambience or vibe. (Think roadside hotel)
The hike from the hotel to the ocean is 2hrs - so stay somewhere closer or just drive to the water. Not worth the hike.
If you’re looking for a pleasurable and peaceful experience it’s worth paying a little more and avoiding this place. We felt very unwelcome and we’re not hard to please. We’ve never given a negative review before but couldn’t resist as our experience was so awful. We feel used.
We booked this place last minute because it was the only option left. Now that makes complete sense.

Breakfast, setting, big family room, outdoor space, safe for kids
The owner was nice enough but a little surly.
