Incredible place

It was already a great space based on photos, but it was even better than expected! When I arrived they had a Christmas night on and a series of fireworks so it felt very homely. Also, I forgot a shirt there and they were kind enough to send it back to me. Really excellent from top to bottom - including the food! The steak was incredible.

Breakfast was very good with a nice choice of food on offer. The building is absolutely amazing, they don’t build them like that anymore.

Vibrating noise from event in bottom room was that loud

Hotel was fantastic. Lovely and clean.

There was an event on Friday and sat nights. We were told about this that there might be loud music.. Well it was loud but as for music. You couldnt tell one song from another. The noise in our room was just boom boom boom until midnight. It was vibrating throughout our room. That was no music. .

There was loud music until midnight on the Friday evening - but this was highlighted as likely before we booked and did finish promptly at 12.00. This was off-set by the room rates being very reasonable for the standard of accommodation provided.

Stunning, beautiful and outstanding

The building was beautiful. The decor was spot on. The rooms were very stylish and well equipped. Beds were big and super comfortable. The curtains were thick and heavy, perfect for keeping light out and warmth in.

Being picky a mini fridge would be handy.

Generally we had a comfortable stay and any issues were pretty minor

Room was comfy, though a bit over hot. Tried to turn down thermostat, but it kept resetting. Good choice of breakfast, but thought serving sizes quite small. Staff were very friendly and helpful

The plug in the bath was blocked, so showering was a problem. Ended up standing in ten inches of water. Room was cleaned and remade each day, but did notice toilet bowl not cleaned. Room was quite hot as thermostat turned up to 26.5 degrees on arrival. Tried to turn it down, but it kept resetting. It would be helpful to have a basic set of room instructions. As noted above, we did think the breakfast servings could have been a bit larger.

Quality stay as always the property and staff never let us down.

Since getting married in the property 26 years ago we have always used Abbey House for our visits home since we now live abroad. The staff, property and restaurant are always amazing and the level of service goes above and beyond. The property maintains a five star level of comfort and cleanliness whilst been central to Barrow in Furness and within 20 minutes of the lake district which make it perfect for those wishing to stray further afield.

Lucky luxury moment

By chance we made this last minute reservation. Our double room offered everything we needed or wanted. The dinner at Oscars was lovely and the staff friendly and went beyond. Breakfast was also of a good quality.

The coffee. But having said that... all the rest was on point, so we were more than happy.

Great stay in Barrow

Beautiful property, great location just a few minutes drive from Barrow. Nice gardens. The staffs are attentive. The restaurant was good. The room was spacious with all amenities.

Nothing to dislike. There were a couple of events at the venue during our stay but the hotel checked with us prior to confirming booking that we were comfortable with this as could be a bit noisy. We did not hear any noise from the parties.

Nearly perfect apart from booming music for wedding

Property was beautiful. Decor inside was beautiful and good spec.

Wedding was taking place on the Saturday. We were warned in a message that the music would be ‘VERY LOUD MUSIC’ until midnight. To the point we could not only make out the lyrics which was fine as it suited my taste. However, the base music was horrendous and nigh on shook the room. Heard there weee various complaints. Some invested t into serious sound proofing would have made this a perfect stay.

The most gorgeous hotel ive stayed in.

The place is just beautiful, it was so clean. The food was lovely. Comfy bed. Room had everything we needed, included iron, ironing board and a fan as it was so warm. The gardens was so nice to walk around. Lots of parking spaces.

Can not find one fault. Was worried as a wedding was on but it didnt bother us at all. Was lovely to watch. Maybe add more seating outside in the gardens around the hotel would be nice so we could have sat there for a while.

Perfect Queit Stay

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Room was clean spacious and modern as was the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent fresh cold and hot options cooked to order. Sunday roast is a must try. Staff were friendly and attentive. The property has large grounds and some walking tracks. One down to the old Abbey behind the property. Absolutely loved our stay here.

An amazing hotel!

A modern hotel in a historic building, comfortable relatively spacious room, excellent breakfast. You can take several nice short walks in the gardens of the property, one leads to the ruins of the Furness Abbey. Make sure that the hotel does not host a wedding during your stay if you want to avoid loud music

Beautifully presented hotel

The hotel, bedroom and gardens were beautifully presented. A lot of care has gone into the details within the hotel. The staff were exceptionally polite and efficient. The breakfast was made up of some local produce. Parking on site was easy. It is a perfect place for a wedding.

The bathroom layout meant it was rather difficult to go to the toilet without catching yourself on the sink. The sink was very low, which made it less comfortable to use (I'm 5ft 4 inches). The hotel caters for weddings, which was wonderful to see. The only concern was that on our first night, the wedding guests were enjoying themselves until 4.30 a.m., which meant that we got very little sleep that night. I would recommend that non-wedding guests are located on different floors to wedding guests. Overall, breakfast on the first day was very good quality. On the second morning, we ordered eggs Benedict. I'm afraid the eggs were either overcooked or undercooked, and the sauce was bland. We were unable to finish our breakfasts that morning. We could have brought this to the attention of staff, but we're happy to eat the toast offered, which was very nice. I would also recommend any written instructions for serving staff to follow are not visible to guests as you enter Oscars and wait to be seated. It may be negatively received by some customers, if they were to read it.

We’ve always wondered what it was like to stay at the abbey, it didn’t disappoint but more thought/c

Room decor and bed was very comfortable with all the extras needed, good selection of hot drinks and water

Our room was 2 floors above the dance floor, where a wedding was taking place, this was noisy, which we was informed about, but a lot of wedding guests on our floor, so there was a lot of commotion and doors banging from midnight to 1am ish, then it quietened down, so we didn’t really have a quite room. It would have been nice if we was in another area away from wedding guests.

Beautiful house , gardens . Immaculately designed and built in a beautiful place. Immaculately clean and staff are outstanding in every way. Could not have asked for a better experience. Extremely good value for money. The price per night is very reasonable for the 5 star experience.

The setting and staff are great

We was put in a room above the kitchen, there was an extracter running all night and we could not sleep and also the staff from the kitchen where smoking and this fill our room with cigarette smell and as none smokers this was not present and to top it off the kitchen staff have very interesting conversations right up till the kitchen closed. We payed alot of money to stay here and we don't have much. We told the receptionist and they could not move us and they said they would get the manager to call us but we are still waiting for a phone call. We feel that this hotel is happy to take your hard earned cash but when someone is not happy you are just ignored. It's a shame as its a beautiful location and the food was lovely and floor staff.
