Sadly the whole peninsula suffered a power outage through the night so no lights, shower or kettle necessitated an early departure for breakfast

The location in Stoer is absolutely stunning. It is remote, wild, and incredibly beautiful. It was exactly the calm and peaceful escape we were looking for. The cottage itself was warm, cozy, and perfectly equipped, making it a wonderful refuge. Paul was an exceptional host who made us feel very welcome. Waking up to the views of the Assynt landscape was incredible. It really felt like a hidden gem in the Highlands.

One night stay in the lovely old smithy's workshop

Paul the owner was friendly and welcoming. He did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. He was very helpful, especially when we arrived with a flat tyre, and we had to start the process of resolving the problem without having a spare. It was an experience to stay in the old smithy's workshop. There is also accommodation in the old stable behind the smithy's studio. The self catering kitchen served our needs. The location is quiet and rural.

Very clean and spacious. Beautiful vaulted ceiling made it seem even larger. Host was very friendly and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

Friendly host. Good position close to where we wanted to be. Comfortable and everything supplied.eg tea, coffee, milk, toiletries.

Bathroom door awkward. Some pans were not good on the induction hob as they were not flat.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings

Beautiful cottage in stunning location, close to the beach and lovely walks. Paul met us on arrival and settled us into the cottage which was clean, comfortable and warm. Paul was super friendly, and we got the impression that nothing would have been too much trouble. We would definitely return.

Lovely and quaint cottages off the NC500, clearly well taken care of and in a perfect setting.

Our stay at the Smith House and Cottages far exceeded our expectations - Paul really has thought of everything when it came to renting out the cottages. It had one of the best stocked kitchens for kitchenware and the setting was peaceful and idyllic, just off the NC500. The beds were very comfortable and I think we all had some of our best sleeps here, over the course of two weeks travelling around Scotland. Often the pictures over promise when it comes to properties, but Paul’s Smithy House and Cottages over delivered in every way. He was also an incredibly helpful and responsive host who had some excellent recommendations of things to do and see in the area. I just wish I had taken more pictures of our actual stay!

A delight cottage with lots of charm

I loved the history of the cottage and it was very cosy and warm. I felt quite at home and well catered for to make my evening meal and breakfast. I lit the fire stove which was very enjoyable to sit by on a damp evening outside. Paul is a great host and very obliging. It was a perfect overnight stay (driving the NC500).

Adorable cottage and relaxing stay

Amazing stay, little welcoming cottage with all the necessary commodities , including a fireplace/wood burner that we could use. Really felt as if we were at home. The setting of the cottage in the surrounding area was really nice too, with birds and goats frequently around the house. Definitely recommend !! The host Paul was very welcoming and attentive.

Cosy studio apartment in peaceful rural setting along NC500

A very comfortable and well equipped studio apartment in a peaceful location. The host, Paul, is friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed being able to light the wood fire when the weather turned cool although the has other heating as well as the wood fire. A washing machine is available, always something we value when on a long trip. Very comfortable beds and seating. Parking is outside the front door and access for unloading the car is very easy, no steps.

A welcome retreat after a long day of driving

The Smithy Cottage had everything we needed for our overnight stay along the NC500. Our host, Paul, was super friendly and informative about the local area. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking our own meal. Tea/coffee/milk and sweet biscuits were much appreciated after a long day on the road. The beds were comfy and the location is very peaceful. Laundry facilities onsite in a separate building. Wifi worked well for mapping and planning our onward journey. Would definitely stay again.

Cosy, warm and remote. Just right for a quiet getaway.

The view was lovely. Occasional deer and sheep aplenty wandering. The fire was a treat and very cosy. Great to not have a TV. A delightful change to turn off from Trump. We explored to beaches and bays which were outstanding, even went for a dip in the Atlantic!

Space for luggage was a bit short. Toilet seat wobbled a bit.
