Mould in the bathroom. No heating turned on in the room in November. Humming fan noise coming from a different room in the night.

Comfortable, but the welcome didn’t feel genuinely warm

Clean, modern and comfortable

Slate floor in the bathroom was very cold. No hand held shower, to avoid getting my hair wet. The bedside lights were too bright and only one switch at side of bed. We didn’t realise there was no hot breakfast mid-week. Will read small print next time!

Good location and friendly staff made for a wonderful weekend.

Good choice and food was well presented and delicious. The buffet element was adequate but not extensive and a little more choice would have been appreciated. The room was comfortable with a wonderful view and a lovely big bathroom.

Highly recommend!

The decor is modern and lovely, nice big room. The food was outstanding, best breakfast ever. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Lively pub which would be amazing for a summer visit as the beer garden looks fab! The views from the dining area where of lovely countryside!

Only downside would be the shower room temp, however we did go on the coldest day of the year. Would definitely be appreciated on a hot summer day!

Excellent stay. Had a meal in the restaurant which was really good. Staff lovely .

Great boutique inn

Boutique Inn with individual but not quirky rooms. Staff were extremely welcoming, very dog friendly. We booked three rooms for one night (family party)

On previous stays there have been drinks in the room. On this occasion we had a voucher for the bar which unfortunately we didn’t have time to redeem due to only stopping for one night. It would be nice to have a small bottle of milk in the fridge.

Excellent food at Eagle and Child

Exceptional food, large super clean rooms, nicely decorated, wonderful professional and friendly staff, large bathrooms with bath and shower, and ample breakfast in room midweek. Beds are super large and comfortable, lovely location at the top of Ramsbottom. Lots to see and do in the village, with heritage steam railway and great shops and cafes. Menus at Eagle and Child are varied, interesting and cater well for vegetarian people. Beautifully cooked food, well stocked bar, excellent staff throughout. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Cooked breakfast available at weekends is plentiful. Have stayed in more expensive places that do not have this quality of food or size of room or amenities in the rooms. This is our second stay and will be coming again soon. Private entrance to hotel rooms above pub and restaurant is a bonus as you can come and go whatever time. Large beer garden with plenty of seating.

Only 5 rooms and 2 suites so gets booked up quickly especially at weekends but book ahead and enjoy your stay.

Exceptional food at the Eagle and Child

Exceptional food always at this venue, staff are excellent warm and friendly, beautiful large rooms, we booked 2 suites, with views of the valley, large bathrooms with bath and shower, super clean throughout, excellent amenities in rooms and super large comfortable beds, decorated individually, excellent service in bar and restaurant, large beer garden with ample seating, private entrance to hotel rooms up a small flight of stairs above pub and restaurant, allowing us to come and go at any time, have stayed in more expensive places without this quality of food or size of room or amenities.

Only 5 rooms in total and 2 suites so gets booked up quickly so book well in advance and enjoy your stay.

Roast dinner was excellent

We stayed Sunday-Thurs and during this time breakfast was left in our room for us the day before as it is only served downstairs at weekends. We could have done with a microwave in the room as porridge packets had been left for us but no way of heating any milk for this. Steep stairs to access all bedrooms and I have mobility problems-this needs to be added to the location details as not suitable for those with mobility issues.

the food was exceptional when it did arrive. Love a coffee machine in the room!

The restaurant was really busy delays on ordering food, which I wouldn't have minded if someone had explained they were not taking anymore orders till X but no explanation as to what the plan was. They just said can't order at the moment as roo busy. After driving a long way just a complimentary bread starter would of been nice. The bathroom window had to be left open in the bathroom due to the mould/ventilation issues and the noise from passing traffic was constant didn't sleep great.

A very warm welcome from staff on arrival. Bar and restaurant area very clean and well presented. Food was excellent good menu choice. Excellent service from staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Bedrooms very modern, comfortable and clean. Very good gesture of a free drink voucher on arrival. A 10 minute downhill walk into the town a good shopping area recommend a taxi to return back to the hotel due to the uphill climb.

Parking a bit of a tight squeeze when car park is full. Part of the car park was inaccessible due to the construction of the beer garden at the rear of the hotel. Looking at it this would be a lovely addition once completed.

My favourite place for a date night.

I love this place, this was our second stay and it’s one of my favourites! The staff are wonderful and the accommodation is excellent. The restaurant makes beautiful food and the breakfast hampers are amazing!

When you check out in the morning it’s not open so unless you’re travelling in your own car it’s a bit of a wait around for the bus etc and it’s not very close to the town so there’s nowhere very close to sit while you wait.

Good value for money. Lovely room/bathroom.. Complimentary drink from.the bar. Nice selection of continental breakfast items in the room.

We arrived on a Sunday when it was busy with Sunday lunches. Couldn't check in as too early, was hoping to relax with a few drinks while waiting for the room, but not a seat to be had..... Well there was, but "reserved for diners" who weren't there yet!? So we had to stand by the door with our drink, looking like a couple of spare parts! However one of the staff took pity on us and looked into getting us checked in early and checking if our room was ready, which it turns out it was! On check out, I couldn't find anyone to hand the keys to... I tried to make contact with people talking in the bar (the door was locked) but they maybe didn't hear me. I did go back to the room to check if there were any details on what the checkout process was, but nothing noted. So I had to leave them and hope they got my email explaining what I had done, I didn't get a reply, so presume they found the key?

I felt nervous on arrival as I was travelling alone and don’t know the area. The staff were kind and reassuring. I chose to eat in the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable

Friendly staff, good size room and nice shower. Food good in restaurant. Breakfast hamper in room was nice touch and had plenty for a good start to day.

NOISE. Came for what we hoped was a relaxing 2 nights but unbelievably noisy room. The traffic noise from 6.30pm onwards was relentless. Understand that the pub is on a main road but maybe shutters would help. In addition to road noise the exit door slams shut when anyone uses it. Also seemed to be people constantly running up and down to the top floor from 8am. On the 2nd morning of our stay the noise from the bar downstairs started at 8am, sounded like dragging furniture around and was still going on when we left at 10.30am. Not recommended if looking for peaceful, relaxing stay.

Room was a reasonable size but too small for a suite. Dark in parts. Furnishings and flooring were a bit worn and tired. Bathroom was old-fashioned and worn. Breakfast hamper was just ok. Food was edible but not great. A bit greasy.
