The chilled location, private pool, friendly staff and exceptional bar staff! Very laid back in the best way! Rooms were clean and spacious. They are currently expanding the bar area to have a restaurant which looks great! Scooter rental right up the road
Mosquitos (but that is just part of the island life) that would be the only thing, but just buy the pink bug spray from 7 eleven two minutes away.

The room was really nice
They didn’t say that they had ongoing constructions right next to the pool of the resort. The pool was all dirty and unusable. The price overall was a bit much counting that we couldn’t use the whole facility. When asked to extend our staying, we were asked way too much money for what we got. So we moved to the next door resort, Assava. The basic rooms are not luxurious but good enough for the time. We extended 5 nights more at Assava Resort.

The accommodation was lovely and set in lovely grounds. Close to the beach and pool.
Our only negative points were the rude male receptionist, never have we been greeted by such rudeness. He struggled to look up from his computer and grunted 1000 baht wanted for key deposit. He clearly requires some social skills training and should not be working front of house. Also when we booked the room we were sent an email saying we would be picked up at ferry terminal, No pick up arrived.
Despite these 2 issues we had a lovely stay , location was great .
Receptionist very rude and abrupt , not very welcoming.

Absolutely nothing
The rooms and pool area were nothing like pictured. The pool looked like a green murky pond. The rooms were very basic and dark. We also had issues with lizards coming into the room. We had originally booked four nights but checked out after one night due to not wanting to spend Christmas within these conditions

Good location
Loud workers at night, windy in the restaurant
5.0 / 10.0
Good location but the property is very basic and not worth the amount charged.
The pool is filthy you could hardly see through the water. There are clearly no chemicals being used for the pool to get so green which is a health hazard. I saw it mentioned in many of the reviews but assumed it would be sorted but it hasn’t. Location is good for town but to be honest the beach is probably the worst we have seen on the island so if that’s important to you then investigate further.
There is a free shuttle service but only at designated times.

Good location, friendly staff, clean accommodation and lovely gardens and pool looking out to the beach
Bungalow accommodation is very rustic and could do with a refresh. Bathrooms and storage for clothes could be improved

Great pool, right on the beach. Convenient location. Rooms are simple, but everything you need.
Not one hook or towel rack in the room/bathroom.
An easy fix, but frustrating with wet towels & nowhere to hang them.

A rustic and peaceful family run resort that provides the ideal place to stay and chill out on Koh Tao. Ideally located in Chalok Bay close to all amenities and dive schools with a pool right on the beach. I really enjoyed the laid back lifestyle. On-site food was good as well as the bar. All staff were friendly and cheerful.

My room was Spacious and clean (staff cleaned every day) fresh sheets and towels provided and two fresh bottles of water. The food was 10/10 from 7:30am no complaints there and so affordable they did lovely smoothies and staff were friendly. Easy access to beach and Main Street. Only a 30 min walk to other side of Island, the busier side. Majority of people hire mopeds, safety first I’d much rather walk, but taxis are reasonable I guess, £6 for 15 min drive. Hotel can organise. I’m not sure I am happy with what I paid for the 8 days roughly £45 a night I think is a bit steep considering the facilities were so basic it was essentially just a room with a bed, I think for that price breakfast should have been included, to upgrade to garden view and addition of tv and safe was an extra £178 which I was not prepared to pay. But I guess the surroundings were so beautiful well kept greenery plants etc and very clean. Lovely views on the beach. If you don’t pay extra for garden view request room 308 is the best no one over looking and you still get the view of the surrounding grounds.
Slightly dated not as bright and welcoming as the photos. The toilet seat was stained and not secure, make sure you bring your own shower wash and shampoo. The pillows on the bed were hard and worn. The kettle would over boil so I had to time it and switch it off and there was no free coffee just tea bags. I purchased my own coffee and milk from 7/11 but you can also go to the restaurant for a choice of coffees 70 Bart.

The room was nice and clean and functional with power And AC but the real gem is the pool beautiful view and great pina coladas. Also liked all of the plants in the courtyard
There’s really nothing that was bad about it!

The hotel tried putting us into the wrongs room, had to ask to move. The bed was covered in bed bugs and when shown the the staff the just ignore and laugh at you and refuse to give you money back.

I loved this hotel, the rooms are divided in buildings of 4 and there's loads of plants in between the buildings, you feel like you're in nature all the time. There's a pool, a bar and a restaurant (with a few cats roaming around), very charming. Our room was clean and comfortable, we got water and toilet paper every day even if we didn't request cleaning. I extended my stay with 3 days and there was no problems with that. They had a taxi transfer to the pier a few times a day which was very practical, very close to a 7-Eleven and a few restaurants (I recommend Yin&Yan). Overall a great stay!
The wifi and the signal in the rooms were very poor. It was a bit better at the restaurant but sometimes it would suddenly drop. There are power outages in this area so if you have to work remotely you might want to stay in Sairee. This are in particular is further away from everything so you most definitely will need a motorbike (or someone to drive you haha).

The bar area was very nice, quiet with the pool and the sea view and access to the small beach. A bottle of water and a roll of toilet paper were provided every day. Free transfer to the pier. Rooms have all the necessities and are clean.
One time the pool was green and looked unclean. There was a pretty big gap in between the entrance door and the floor so mosquitoes were able to come in, but the staff helped us to fix it with a towel. If can get a little loud if there’re many people talking outside on their balconies (simply because of the enclosed space in between buildings), but it’s okay.

Amazing location on the beach and amongst everything you need including a 7/11, bile hire and currency exchange around the corner. The bar staff were great and helped us book a snorkelling tour. Hotel restaurant was well priced and food was delicious. The property was beautiful, filled with jungle trees and flowers.
The bed was too firm for us and wasn’t comfortable. The wooden panels on the bedroom and bathroom windows had gaps that allowed mosquitos in constantly. We had to buy mosquito coils to burn in the room because of how many were inside our room every night. The pool was unfortunately green the whole time we stayed so we didn’t swim and the reception staff/driver were a bit rude and hard to communicate with.

An authentic place to stay on a beautiful island. The Fisherman Koh Tao is a cosy and chilled space with a beautiful well-kept garden, infinity pool, and the beach, bar and restaurant. The staff is very kind and helpful in any situation. I tested only thai food and it is very good but they have a large selection of food of all kinds. We did the excursion that they propose at the reception counter, it was a great snorkeling experience with local people and a good way to see the whole island from the sea. The Fisherman is a nice place to spend your holidays, highly recommended.

I was afraid before coming because I had read the reviews saying the staff were not welcoming. And I was amazed to find a super excellent staff. They have always been polite, helpful, and professional. Many reviews said the person at the desk was unpleasant, which was not the case with us. He has been welcoming and helpful whenever we needed him. The restaurant is pretty good and affordable. The room is simple but convenient and with a small cute terrasse. The garden is lovely.
Mostly the bed. It was so hard that I had struggled to sleep there. That's for sure my only negative point, everything else was excellent!

Amazing location. Good facilities- pool, aircon, had everything you’d need.
Mosquitos were unbearable. Could have just been unlucky with room/ time of year, but meant we couldn’t have stayed longer even if we wanted to. Not been a problem during our 3 week stay on koh tao prior.
Early checkout.

Property is charming! Looks like fisherman house (style), natural materials, makes you feel like part of the movie. Swimming pool area is amazing: has open view from pool to the ocean. Interesting design. ( The only thing: the Bird in Cage next to reception. Don’t see the point to cage it, these birds are flying all over the place free, why need to put one in jail?)

Great pool area to relax and have a few drinks. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced too. The staff were friendly and made you feel very welcome. Great stay. Thanks
There was a bit of a mix up with getting collected from the pier when we first arrived but nothing a phone call didn't sort.

The location, the swimming pool.
The room was different than the pictures of the selected room on Booking.com. The room was a bit dirty, and the bathroom was not up to standard for the price. If the price was lower, the overall condition of the room would be more acceptable. The staff reminded us of uninterested teenagers, doing the bare minimum, almost annoyed to be interrupted from youtube or smoking. Not very welcoming.

The resort has the potential to be great. It's just simply 'run down'
There's not any beautiful thatching on the foofing. All that is left is corrugated sheeting. The beds are really comfortable, but the room is in need of a full refurbishment. The bathroom is awful, but you get used to it, just grubby. Squashes mozzies on the walls and tops off toiletries left around the sink.
It has a beautiful setting and that is how they can command the price. Otherwise, its a 1000bht room.
The time of the covid crisis could have been a opportunity to dress up the rooms, shame they didn't.
It's a jungle setting, so expect the mozzie attack. Some rooms didn't have nets, ours did and worked fine.
We did enjoy our stay, but we expected a little bit more, something that reassemble the photos.
Won't return, for the price we paid.
All the staff were ok but the guy on reception was a moody xxxx.
There's a nice caged bird who chats and whistles away. The poor things cage has never been cleaned out with 2 mountains of built up bird poo. Get a grip management
See above, ha

Fisherman lays in a special location right on the beach in a rather quiet area of Ko Tao. The facilites are smartly organized, well clean and generally speaking everything was very much in order, well worth staying at! The swimming pool is a 10/10.
There is not much pool/beachfront space available, so if that’s all you need for your holiday maybe have a look at other options.
